XP Pro & DirectX 10 Mod

Everything you guys are detailing seem to be graphics problems, in which case Microsoft/Vista isn't responsible for. For that you need to look at Nvidia and ATI.

At least lay the blame on the right people. There was even a report last week that showed that only 17% of crashes experienced by users since Vista came out in Jan 07 were as a result of the OS, the rest were caused by 3rd party drivers and apps, which Microsoft is not responsible for.

Everyone keeps blaming Microsoft, which puts on all the pressure on them, meanwhile all the companies that are actually responsible for these issues get off scott free and slip under the radar, doing little or nothing about it.

I'm a newb at heart, How do you do that. Crysis system req tool says I have DX10?
If you have a DX10 card you should be able to put all the settings in Crysis on very high like you would in Vista. And any other SM4.0 eye candy option in any other game. I can think of 2 options in Bioshock and a few options in WiC that requires D10.

My performance issue is based really on horrible kerneling and RAM hog. Thats OS.

Ill be giving this a go. Hope it works...Ive tried Vista several times and always come back to xp. it just works better. and of course the extra benchmark points help.:)

I think I now understand. MS altered the spec for DX10 as NVIDIA couldn't meet the original specs. As a result, this made DX10 workable on XP and it can be installed.

BUT - the NVIDIA drivers for XP won't utilise the DX10 instructions (even the 174 beta) since MS want DX10 to be a key reason for using VISTA, and since MS helped NVIDIA with the DX10 specs..... need I say .... I'm not suprised (they are in business to make a profit after all).

You can't run dx10 in Vista.

Look at all dx10 compatible games, whichever ones you have launch and see those dx10 options... Oh wait, you don't...

If it works great but I doubt it...
