Nvidia has decided to allow XFX to release some factory overclocked versions of its 8800 series gfx cards, but only in very limited runs. Oh, and be prepared to fork out some serious cash for the pleasure.

seriously whats the freaking point of shelling out loads for a factory oc when ur just gonna oc it even more right off the bat? and factory ocs are usually only like 10-20mhz. bleh.

What a con! These cards are as welcome as a group hug in a burns unit...

Tbh, when I first put my pc together a few months ago I had two 7900gt sig series - factory oc'd. In my naivety as a noob I assumed these were somehow superior to standard cards and could be oc'd even more. I was less than impressed when I realised this wasn't the case.

Buy stock and OC ftw

Ya, I mean it all sounds good "my card is clocked already when I buy it", I think it`s more for people to buy off the shelves and they can tell people "my card is oc`d". Bearing that in mind, the card has to be poorly oc`d to stay within servicable perameters.

Oh and they can add £100/$100+ to the price ;)

Frag, do u assume that when u seen ..X in the title of a card, that it`s been clocked in a fashion already ?

its a rip of no doubt :p pre overclocked cards are for noobs who dont know how to overclock and also want the few extra mhz :p

Or you could look at it another way, as a safeguard; especially so with the 7900 GT's. A lot of those cards went the way of the dodo when they were overclocked, or never clocked the same again even struggling to run at the speed at which they were originally released. This is the very reason I bought my factory oc'd 7900 GT, so at least if it went arse up it was still under warranty.
