Hello, My problem is that my GPU reaches about 65-75 degrees and i get a GSoD (Grey Screen of Death)

A friend of mine told me that i have bad CAPS on my GPU, Another friend told me i should RMA the card.

Someone else told me that XFX uses bad components and is not a very good company. This card has been running at stock clocks since i got it. I have to restart my PC after i get the GSoD.

I run this card at 50% fanspeed.

The games i get GSoD in:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Colin McRae: DiRT 2

Mafia II

Here is my PC:

Specs:

AMD Phenom II x6 1090t @ 3.2GHz

Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5

Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB

Noctua NH-D14

ATi Radeon HD 5870 (XFX)

2x WD Blacks 500Gb in RAID 0

2x WD Greens 1Tb Storage

CoolerMaster GX 750w

CoolerMaster CM 690 II Advanced

I am about to RMA this card because it annoys me so much.

I've never had a bad XFX card but it does happen I'd rma it. it shouldnt be doing that at all. Have you checked the bios for the voltage and freq settings to make sure they match stock specs since ur running it stock???

RMA it, plain and simple. If you get errors on stock...

However, if you want to try, you could uninstall and clean (DriverSweeper) the drivers, and install an older version, but I haven't heard about incompatibilities with HD5xxx and new drivers.

The quality of XFX graphics cards has gone through the floor recently, that in mind i would say RMA it too.

Dude, its faulty. Send it back get it replaced. Don't waste your time and effort. Pratting about with bloody software will not miraculously cure it.

Use your warranty.

I reinstalled windows recently because of my new PC so that is not an issue i am having.

That is what someone told me, I used to think they were an epic company with my old XFX 6800 (Which is dead, Tried oven trick on it as well, Still no luck.). I am forced to use that card now when i am going to RMA the 5870.

I am going to RMA sometime next week, I will have to use my dad's old Sparkle 7950GT. biggest piece of junk. I cannot run any games on it at all. So i will have to wait a while before i can game again.

Im sure youve tried a driver sweep and re instal so i wont say that but have you checked you Ram timings in bios? that seemed to sort a similar issue with me for some reason? My gigabyte board on auto didnt get it right which is fine i should of remembered to do it after re flashing it doh!

I changed my ram timings in the bios because of auto making it 11-11-11-29, so i had to change to 9-9-9-24 and @ 1600mhz instead of 1333MHz, and anyways this problem has occurred on my dell system which had every single piece of hardware on it at stock clocks. Thanks for the suggestion though.

RMA it is....I sent a 460 back this week myself
