XFX HD 7970 ghz

so is my only option i got is universal water block?!

I'd say its you only option, but TBH universal blocks are not the best things in the world.

I currently use two universals on my 7870 tahiti cards, one acquired from a old friend for spare change and another from ebay for again a low price.

you will require passive heat sinks for your ram and other hot locations of the motherboard (it was terrible searching through forums to find out exactly where my Tahiti cards required them) and then you need some airflow for those passive heat sinks.

My advice is sell all 3 of your GPUs and then buy a R9 290 custom design when they are out or a reference one and a waterblock.

yeah look's like i'll have to do that :( shame really i really like the look of swiftech's komodo waterblock

i was in this position a while ago when I wanted to water cool my XFX 7950 which it too had waterblock issues, hence the first universal block.

When i sold it i was trying to buy a reference a second hand hd 7970 but that sale fell through and i ended up replacing my 7950 for dual 7870 Tahiti cards.

i really wanted to water cool my rig so i want down that route, but I will not again if I can afford buying a real waterblock.

ahh, that's Epic!! I'm so happy for you right now :)

I take it your going down the 7970 WC route then?

i still need to find out what my friends are doing

one minute he wants 2 7870 xt's now that i got the 7970 ghz (i think it's a ghz)
he wants that

and the other friend is wants 7970 ghz.

run as fast as ya can away from that xfx 7970 there rubbish if it were me I'd stick with the xfired Tahiti's

Besides a 290 is cheaper and faster, on top of that adding a waterblock will easily let the 290 shine. Also later down the road another 290 will easily power any game.

yeah can do, but it would be a pain in the butt to add a gpu in the loop

Only if you were to change the GPU often, otherwise just install it and leave it for months until it's due maintenance.

I wouldn't have bothered watercooling if you had to go with the universal block and passive heatsinks, but the fact that you found the Heatkiller block that is compatible seems awesome, you've pretty much got to do it now if you get it! :)

best to wait (have it on hand) and do a maintenance cycle on the loop where ur changing tubing makes it easier. Like I'm about to do been needing to do a water change and flush of my loops. Also been wanting to get the Enthoo Primo case so kinda been putting it off for that. Well hard times hit I moved now out of work on short term disability so no money no case. Well got lucky this guy bought one had it 3 weeks before reality set in he has to move in a month and the Primo will not fit in his car with the rest of his stuff. So long story short I'm trading him my HAF XB and a 120GB Corsair Force GT for his Primo we each pay our own shipping. So in a nutshell I'm getting it for 35$ what it cost me to ship my stuff lol. The case and ssd have just been collecting dust here for about a year.
