I had a 780i running my q6600 GO at 3.65GHz (8x multiplier) it was cooled by my galaxy 2 water kit. With a old dual channel 4gb Reaper HPC kit rated at 1066Mhz, 2.1V and Cas 5 (i tink), this was running at the advertised speed of 1066.
I decided to go to custom watercooling in the process fried 2 8800gts and put my beloved 780i into the instant ff error. Unable to RMA (lost the proof of purchase) I bought the xfx 750i believeing it should still be able to get me to somewhere close to my previous OCs.
The cooling is more substantial two loops running in parallel from a Primochill T3 one loop goes to a ek full cover waterblock which is NOT attached to g-card (upgraded to a incompatible gts 250) this then runs through my XSPC RX240 rad. The Cpu loop has a slightly thinner 240mm rad, the CPu block itself is a D tek Fuzion V2 (stock nozzle) Pump is a vario D5.
Anyway was disappointeted to find tht whilst this board is advrtised for oc'ing has only 4 voltage options, not a problem I thought until i saw tht the cpu voltage can't be set below the default, its running at 1.3V (Vcore cpu z confirmed) so I can only set above.
I first tried to set the memory wouldn't boot at 1066 on auto timings and 2.1 voltage. settimings manually same volatage same speed again no boot. I attempted a lower speed of 1000 and managed to get a boot but bsod.
I gave up with the memory and thought as long as the CPU oc was any where near before memory won't matter too much. My cpu before need quite a bit of voltage 1.55v vcore to be stable at 8x-1650. So I have been playing round with voltage settings for vcore, vtt NB and plain NB voltage for the best part of day, to try and get anywhere near the old oc. So far I have not had a single boot.
Anyone have any setting that work?
