Xeon Related Question

As you guys may know from my introduction I am getting ready to build a computer. Gaming is not my specialty but I will play some games. I am considering a Xeon E3-1240 V2 over a i7-3770k. The board I selected appears to support it according to CPU-Upgrade.com. The board is the MSI Z77_MPower. I will provide links below to the products. I am looking to you guys for advise on 1.) Will it work? 2.) Which will have better performance in SQL Server, Visual Studio, Andriod Emulation, etc. 3.) Personal Preference
4.) Almost forgot can I still run High Ram speeds with the Xeon.
