Xbox 360 watercooling

I was kinda wondering what to do w/ my Xbox 360. It overheats after an hour of Rock Band 2 (happened today too, playing drums on Expert, insert preferred expletive here), and 5-10 minutes of Saint's Row 2. About a week ago, I decided to WC it. I have no real clue what to buy. I do know I'm going to buy an XSPC Xbox 360 CPU/GPU block, but I don't know how much rad I need (would prefer 240 or 360 so I can reuse it later), or how thick of tubing I can get away with. Has anyone done this?

mate i doubt ur gonna need a 240 for a 360, maybe a push pull 120? also if ur getting high temps, change the thermal paste with some high quality noctua paste

Noctua paste aint that good. there are much better alternatives. a Water loop does the job just fine on a xbox 360. All so if you getting cut off (over heating) you need to heat up the MB to fix the dry solder problem. Just throwing on a new Cooling system is a bit late as it needs fixing first then adding on the cooling system will prolong its life.

Just adding some thermal past is not your answer ....

All so a 240 does work well with a 360 and 120 doesn't remove all the heat unless its the thick type rads.

IC Diamond? only reason why I say thermal paste is ive replaced it both on my ps3 and 360 and they run perfectly fine and much cooler. plus I didnt think that a 360 would produce so much heat that it would need a 240? meh I dont know. listen to mayhem he knows what hes talking about

RS120 works fine. 360's dont get hot at all with water. Ive had mine on an RS120 without problems for well over 2 years.

Also Noctua paste is epic.

we never agree on any thing any way mate haha ... the first xbox im on about btw not the new slim things. A 120 will be oky for them. The noctutra paste i think ic diamonds better All so you know i love my liquid paste's.

I found a 2 x 120 was much better (slim version rads) and removed more heat and was silent, the thick 120mm were all so good on a first version xbox. the slim version 120mm was nosy as you have to have the fans ramped up when playing long term gaming. Hnce why i say tick 120mm or thin 2x120mm.

Unfortunately I couldn't find anywhere to buy a watercooling kit, but, I found the next best thing http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1...Quad_Heatpipe_GPU_Heatsink.html?tl=g39c59s405

Seems to only cool the GPU though.

EDIT: I found a block for it http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/product_info.php/info/p4993_Koolance-X-Box-360-Dual-waterblock-Kit.html

If you do mod the 360, please put it up on the project log. We'd love to see it.

Also you got to show this thing off, put a window on the side and some LEDs!

I thought about watercooling my 360, I love Tenchu it's my fav game on the 360

But i keep getting the red ring of death and i'm quite sure the wat to fix this problem is WATERCOOL IT! But honestly it's kinda expensive tbh.. maybe i should strap a 120mm fan to it instead

Will do a full work/project log ( pictures & video). I got 5 red CM fans for my case. I may be bat**** crazy a spring for a thick XSPC RX240. I got pimp Halo 3 Xbox 360, so I'm obliged to get 4 green CM SickleFlows. Off to NCIX to put em in the cart(stupid fast 18 hour shipping, lol). It may take a while, I don't really want to use my dad's credit card anymore. I did find an XSPC full cover block @ frozencpu.com, and it's $43. Not bad for CPU & GPU cooling I think. I'll take pics of the stuff I gotta pick up on Monday.

OK, a thick 240 IS overkill. How about a XSPC RX120. I'll have a full shooping list soon.

This is what I got for my shopping list:

2x CM SickleFlow 2000RPM fans (green) (NCIX)

XSPC RX120 (DazMode)

Arctic Cooling MX-4 (NCIX)

XSPC Xbox 360 CPU/GPU Waterblock (www.sidewindwecomputers.com)

3/8" tubing & barbs

not sure what pump/res combo to get, the XSPC X20 450 isn't available in Canada(neither NCIX nor DazMode.com carries them)

Edit: nevermind, will be using the Swiftech MCR-120. It has an integrated pump & res, and it's also available from NCIX. It's only $75 for MX-4, 2 CM Sickleflows & the rad.

Good luck with it. Hope ever thing turns out all right. just careful with adding the block to the CPU you do not want to crush the core.

. take you time.

starting project log tomorrow, assuming the fans and hard drive(my 80 GB died, now being used as a paperweight ) are in. Red for now, but green will be ordered soon. The red fans are actually for my PC. Went into OCD mode and stripped my HAF 922 bare; no fans, no top panel or front bezel. Will show pics of rebuild if wanted.

I have the XSPC CPU & GPU block! Never used it in a 360 though

Used as part of a TEC (Peltier) experiment a while back! I should try to sell it really.

Off topic, could use the help of smart people in picking parts for my Cosmos 2 build in October(WC parts now, case later). Made a thread in the New Build Section. On topic, nobody sells IC Diamond in Canada.

Edit: Jealous of you rig, SieJoe. I only got a Phenom II X4 955. validated @ 3.9GHz tho.

I have the old original 360 and its fine on a slim rad

always has been always will be.
