X79 memory overclocking

Since Tom has had back luck with his 2011 cpu IMCs, what does he think about mine ?

I found that this chip can actually hold memory at 2700, but I don't have any ram that can go there at reasonable volts and temps. I got 2680 an hour ago .

I just want to give a tip for everyone who have a 2011 system and high speed ram: Do not leave VTT and VCCSA voltages on auto, they can kill your cpu. Leave both at 1.1, but you can keep vtt at 1.15 if you are using 1.65v dram voltage. Keeping a max delta between these two of 0.5v can help with stablity.

For gaming purposes you should pick either two 7970s or 680s. That is what 2011 socket is aimed for - lots of pci-e lanes.

I have a Maximus IV Extreme Z, Crossfire is sooo terrible, Fraps 60FPS, Real Life FPS 30 at best. Although I am still tempted to try out SLI.

I haven't experienced crossfire issues with my two 7970s actually. AMD boys have done some good fixes for crossfire nowadays .

I just want to see 2700, but I need to push cpu temps high since 2011 memory controllers are very picky to low temperatures.
