x58 / p67 dilema

i`m in a big dilema here.

on the right corner: (x58)

_ asus sabertooth x58 http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar...oards-asus-sabertooth-x58-socket-1366-box-_JM

_ i7 950 http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar...l-core-i7-950-28ghz-quad-core-socket-1366-_JM

total:U$S 660

and on the other side: (p67)

_ gigabyte ud4 http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar...gigabyte-p67a-ud4-b3-1155-i7-i5-i3-usb-30-_JM

_ intel i5 2500k http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar...e-i5-2500k-33ghz-6mb-quadcore-nuevos-2011-_JM

total: U$S 629

the rest of the specs would be nvidia 560, 1 500gb hdd, cm 690II, 2x2gb 1600mhz gskill ram, 750w ocz. the rig is used mostly for racing car gaming, and maybe some 3d desing. deffo overclocking after few months.

so what`s my best option? brand new p67 or the great x58?

any change of motherboard would be take into account

Well, with the x58 option you'd want 3 sticks of RAM so figure the extra cost in. Personally, I'd go P67 right now.

Another thing to think about though, that 950 has 8 threads. The 2500k only has 4 as it doesn't have HT. If all you do is game, it shouldn't be anything to worry about, but for folding or encoding the 950 would be better.

Performance wise the 950 and 2500K are about the same so it depends.

X58: If you are someone who like to play around with the settings in BIOS and tweak as much as you can.

P67: If you are not too bothered about tweaking and playing around with the settings in the BIOS.

Price wise there isn't really that much of a difference so it depends on the above really.

maybe i can exchange the p67 ud4 with a p67 ud3 or maybe an asus p8p67 (lower prices) and would make a significant difference. it seems that because of the usage, both options are almost same performance. maybe can save some money and get a real heatsink

X58 will soon be old technology, and when you say 750w ocz i hope you dont mean the fatal1ty edition

. don´t worry i am planning to get a new psu soon.

No doubt when the new technology comes out its going to be at the highest possible prices so personally i wouldn't wait, most i think wont be able to even afford it even if it does come out.
