x1900XTX - the New leader From ATI

The x1900xtx was launched to well: not much of a fuss to me. Maybe I'm just ignoring it. Ah well

Anyway looks like if your looking for a new high-end card then this is the one for you.

It beats the 7800GTX 512mb in pretty much all modern games

Its the R580 pumped up and ready for your PC:

It comes in two flavours:

XTX

* RADEON™ X1900 XTX core (650MHz)

* 512MB GDDR3 onboard memory (1500MHz)

* 48 Pixel Pipelines

* 256-bit Memory Bus>

* PCI Express x16

Pixel Shader Version 3.0

* Video Acceleration of: MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV9, VC-1, and H.264

* Dual DVI * Video-In and Video-Out

* 2 Sapphire Select Unlock keys

XT

* RADEON™ X1900 XT core (625MHz)

* 512MB GDDR3 onboard memory (1450MHz)

* 48 Pixel Pipelines

* 256-bit Memory Bus

* PCI Express x16

* Pixel Shader Version 3.0

* Video Acceleration of: MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV9, VC-1, and H.264

* Dual DVI

* Video-In and Video-Out

* 2 Sapphire Select Unlock keys

The card has the same noisy but efficient cooler on it as the x1800xt and is 90nm - the same as its predecessor.

The card beats the 7800GTX is pretty much all the benchies I've seen - and so it should with a massive 48pixel pipelines.

This card has a different way of doing things to the 7800GTX and indeed the x1800xt: but it seems to be doing the job :)

Thanks to Hexus for the benchies :)

So as you can see this thing has power. Though I'm still inclined to wait a bit and see how it performs with DX-10 :D

Fuckin' hell that's a monsterous card... ATI is back!!!

I've seen 2 of these in Crossfire and they're breaking 9,600+ in 3dMark06 with them already, lol. Single cards are pulling in the low-mid 6,000 range.

/me hits self for getting 7800GTX's... Why didn't I wait for the 7900's, bleh!

w00tage on that mo fo, that is fast

Agreed, ATi need to sort out their drivers, they've always been renowned for messing them up (F.E.A.R anybody on 5.13 anybody??)

But as I said to Kemp that nearly 50 Gigs of memory bandwidth, this thing is raping all, although as Kemp pointed out and I agreed with, there is no software currently available to utilise this cards new architecture

It still PWNS all though and will be cheaper than Nvidias 512mb card - I may yet eat my words and go back to ATI once again, as I stared as an ATI fanboy many moons ago!!

This forum may have relaxed rules when it comes to these kind of things, but i was eating my lunch when i read this!! :banng:

Apologies XMS, that was a bit over the top....! :eh: what was I thinking?

Anyways, back to topic, there is some info on Hexus that suggesting that the X1900XTX will be up to the match for the 7900GTX, but what will the pricing be like on Nvidia's newest comer? I can't see how they can release another top end card over £500 when ATi's latest and greatest will get released sub - to - very - near £400

Negative. The G71 and the x1900XTX will certainly be competitive.

Its all good for the comsumers :)

Maybe, but prior to today, ATi were behind in the race. nVidia say the G71 is better than the 7800GTX by a large margin. Tbh its a matter of waiting and seeing.

I totally agree with kemp here, the new ATI ring bus is gonna enable the new ATI cards to be absolute screamers. Once they iron out the bugs and start getting some really good yields, we are gonna see some really impressive performance. I still love Nvidia, but kudos goes to ATI for it's proactive approach to gaming quality :worship:

Thats the main problem, although its more the yield than anything else, ATi are having poor yields and are therefore making a large amount of loss.

ATI WERE having poor yields. Now they've stepped up and are caining it (for want of a better expression)
