Wtf has happened to the Blitz?

Word on the grapevine has it that the IX38-MAX is/has been shelved and that early 2008 will see a IX48-MAX instead.

I was saying that would make a lot of sense long before fudzilla posted it.

I do wonder if he has real information or is just rehashing speculation on forums.

Given the current price/poor takeup of DDR3 & the rapid availability of X48 after X38 imo people dropping that kind of money aren't going to worry about an extra $50 on the mobo to get a supposedly higher performing X48 instead of an X38.

After seeing almost ZERO difference in 3DMark05/06 between my Abit AW9D and the EVGA 680i mobo I bought, I'm inclined to stick with Intel mobo's; the reason I'd go with x38/48 over P35's is the extra SATA ports. DVD drives sellers are making more SATA versions, so 6-plus ports is a good thing since extra storage always comes in handy. Coupled with a little better performance, the X38/48 sounds like a winner for NB chips.

I have no problem with buying Asus mobo's, the one's I've had have been quite nice, but they also seem to charge a premium nowadays. I think Abit has the best price to performance mobos. (My 10-cents is now over with.)
