I am in the market to let go AGP " cries"...its that time. Now, I have a 6800 GT AGP card (stupid me bought it from a bix box comp store and got jipped )

I have a buyer lined up for this card and due to having a family, I cant go and blow 400.00, so i was scoping out at egg a 7600 GT PCI e card.

Now, I could maybe go with the 6600GT's and put em in sli? Which would be more improvement over what i have atm... 2x6600 Gts or 1x 7800GT

7800gt mate. I must say i was always a little dissapointed with SLI'd 6800's. Most games showed little diff. for me apart from benching

thats what i figured. looking at the specs on the 7600GT's they seem to want to own the 6800gt AGP i have, plus i guess i can always get one more 7600gt when I have the money for sli, even thouugh i have no clue why i would need that sense I dont really game all that much

Now u got me confused, are we talking 7600Gt or 7800GT here?

However, either way, i'd still suggest a 7600GT over SLI 6600GT's if thats as far as ur budget will stretch.

Have u considered an ATI card? I'm not to hot on their lineup, having just converted, but what are the prices of the x850GTO like for you?

7600GT like I said The 7800GTs are a bit over what i can spend atm. so the 7600GT fits in nice...

ATI IS EWWWW i will never go ati, owned one and will never go back ( although i was disapointed on the 5xxx series from nvidia )

I will check out the prices on the GTO though you segested

now i dont see a 850GTO at the site i buy from they do have a 800GTO and 800GTO2 both are cheap as in the 850 they only have the 850XT and 850XT PE which the PE series is a bit out of the price atm.

Sorry i mean't X800GTO, which in almost all cases can be flashed up to an X850XT

is crossfire even worth getting? If not then I am sure it will be easy to find a mobo with a single PCIE that oc very well, as in flashing the video bios never have done that. scares me. ever sense my buddies MSI board got a fualty bios flash while using the update software from MSI i have been worried about flashing anything. How is that done anywasy? Old school with a floppy?

Could't you save for awhile and strech to a 7800GT?

I can tell you they are worth the little extra, and VAST improvment over any in the 6800 range.

Its a shame you didnt ask last week as ocuk were doing the 7800gt's for £90 inc vat and a variety of other cards cheap as hell.

Have a look round www.overclockers.co.uk in the clearout section and b-grade.

You can always pick up a bargain.

Sam

I have just seen a X800 GTO2 on another forum for sale, its a unlocked one.

See the attached screenshot for details, this is on ocuk and you need 200 + posts to view it.

If you wanted it i could get you his e-mail address and you could go from there.

£90 sounds like a good deal to me.

Hope this helps, Sam

He's in Wisconsin guys, that's in the states ;) That being said, if you can order really soon (like by tomorrow) and stretch the money I would get a 512MB x1800XT at Newegg (make sure it's more than $300) and use the coupon code "iloveati" to get $50 off :)

hahaha I have to do the upgrade soon while the woman is willing to let me do it. Its not often she lets me spend money on my comp, so the 200.00 on the video card is them most i could spend unless i skimp on something else
