i was lucky and got a 270x really cheap and may be able to get another one but was wondering is it worth it ?.Before i had a 6950 in crossfire but quite a few games there was no gains and the games that did there was some bad microstuttering. Are things any better ?

Will only be one screen and 1080p my processor is a amd 8350 (though am thinking about the newer intel chipset but will post questions about that in other topic)

Depends on how cheap you can get it. If its more on the expensive side i would sell your current card and save up for a 290. Games are only getting more difficult to run and the 290 can handle it with ease. Plus getting a 290 will yield you a better minimum framerate. All depends on you tbh.

thanks i think your right as the min framerate is the issue i had before which was causing the stuttering

The newer cards don't have the problem as bad as the old cards did. You can crossfire the newer cards and not worry about the stuttering. It just comes down to how well the game engine utilizes the extra card and the drivers supporting it.

it depends on the game some can make use of two cards but most work better with one and if you do run two card you don't get two times the power its more like one third more power of the first card

really only 33% gained?

No the cards can get anywhere from 80% to 100% and in rare occasions more than 100%(nvidia cards too). Generally speaking for a 290 they get in the 90% range more often than not but i can't find much info on a 270x in crossfire but its way more than one third.
