Right not really sure wether to go ahead and use my PSU OCZ coreXstreme 500w with my new MSI Z87-GD65 and intel 4670K processor as it does'nt come up in the list of Haswell ready PSUs on the manufacturers site .I have seen that the mainboard is compatable with it somewhere but cant even find where it was on line now so a bit dubious in case i blow the processor or board any ideas or help would be appreciated

You wont blow it, it just wont restart after it hibernates.

However youre not a true OC3D member with OCZ products in your PC.

Just look at any of his videos. Granted, he is 'powered' by Corsair :lol: but they make some of the best PSUs.

People generally recommend Corsair, Enermax, Silverstone, Seasonic and a few others lol.

Thanks really peeved with this as made sure the board and PSU I had would be ok before buying and read the board was ok with the OCZ coreXtreme series which automatically makes me assume that the PSU would be fine if its ok with the board as its so new

I got a OCZ Vector for the lulz because it came with Far Cry 3 and OCZ claimed they fixed issues with there last gen SSD. Within a month it began failing, After speaking with service rep basically you need a specific firmware installed, intel sata only, format with OCZ Tool only.

A little off topic, but I wouldn't get too hung up about the PSU brand to be honest. The warranty and after sale support is what I'd care about really when it comes to the PSU.

The reason I say this is that there's few enough manufacturers that actually make the PSU themselves. Most will hire another company to do it for them. It means most PSUs you'll buy are just re-branded versions from those who actually do.

As a result, you can often get the funny situation where you could have for example, an XFX and Cooler Master PSU that are actually the same under the hood.

To give you an example, my Corsair HX 620W is actually a rebranded Seasonic PSU. That being said though, I can't complain, as it's over 4 years old, still under warranty and still performing solidly, so +1 for Corsair, even if my one is actually from Seasonic.
