Wireless network cutting out

:\, weired, nothing ominously wrong there... well nothing wrong atall. Can you get a pic of the line stats, with attenuation and signal loss etc?

Ok, here is a screen of the line status (when the internet is not working properly), basically the router has been on since sometime yesterday or something, but my laptop has just been turned on a few minutes ago (if that has any relavance to these screens :S lol)

Still don't see anything obviousm, not sure what K R S D are for down the side, I would have thought S would be loss of signal, but that wouldn't explain why PPP is still connected. Can you ping 66.102.9.104 (Google) when it goes down?

well I go to the dos window and type "ping www.google.com" and it wont work(when the net has gone down obviosly, when the net is working normally like now I can ping it and it will be fine)

Ill try that IP u just gave next time it goes down, but I would assume it would just be the same thing

Its possible that its a dns problem, and if you can ping the ip, its likely its a dns error, if you can't it's something else. Also try connecting to http://66.102.9.104 in your browser.

Well the net is currently working and I tried http://66.102.9.104 , it goes to google fine, I'll have to wait till the net goes down again to try the pinging, and I'll try the ip as well.

btw if it is a DNS problem, what would be my action to fix it? contact the ISP or BT?

EDIT: Update:

Ok the net went wierd again, now NO pages i tried loaded, apart from google :S and your suggestion http://66.102.9.104/.

Also pinging, www.google.com and http://66.102.9.104/ worked, but no other site, this was wierd, as in other times google would not ping either.

Im really confused now, what do you think I should do?

Thanks

Well it sounds a bit like DNS, yet if you can't ping all the time it would suggest other problems. Firstly I'd contact IDNet and discuss any of the problems. I doubt its likely to be a pronlem with IDNet as it hasn't been across the board, so its likely its just your end. The fact that the PPP and Line is still connected lead me to believe the main fault is coming from the router, so it would be a good idea to contact BT and RMA if you can.

Would also be worth checking wiring, but it's unlikely to be due to that.
