Wireless Broadband packages

I'm thinking of picking up a dongle + contract type package to let me use the web un-hindered where ever I tread.

Anyone got any recomendations? Ones to avoid? Will network speed be quite similar to phone signal streagths (ie high signal in an area will mean good speeds) or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

been looking at the same thing today. I was looking at a vodafone payg one. You top it up like you would on a mobile phone.

Best to look at the coverage map > http://maps.vodafone.co.uk/coverageviewer/web/default.aspx

EDIT: This is the one ive been looking at > http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mob...usb-modem-stick-topup-and-go?compatible=false

Hmm, the PaYG one seems a good choice due to no bindngs etc. But 15 quid for 1GB seems a little steep.

On three theres a 15p/m (18 month contract) with 5GB limit and according to the map thingy theres better coverage out in the sticks (where I live). Both cover work however, where I think it would get used the most.

Time to dial around all the providers. Yay...

good luck!

I've got the Vodafone dongle and in area's where there's good signal strenght and 3g+ coverage you wouldnt notice any difference in webpage browsing speed to being at home.

Just be aware of the following though:

- In areas of poor/moderate coverage the connection will be total sh*ite. Worse than 56k modem sometimes.

- Forget gaming if you had it in mind. The ping latency is stupidly high even when you've got a very good 3g+ signal.

- They have page filtering in place (forget the pr0n unless you want to call them to have it unblocked)

- They compress all web page images to reduce your bandwidth consumption, but some images look downright crap. You can probably ask them to turn it off..but see below:

- You will use more bandwidth than you think. I use my one for web based email, web browsing and absolutely no downloading or youtube. Yet still I chew up almost all of my monthly allowance.

EDIT: BTW, don't 3 use O2's network? If so, I'm not even sure if you'll get the 3.6mb 7.2mb speeds. Could be wrong tho.

I know some1 who has a contract with O2 or the likes

Get an unlimited browsing "bolton" or similar

Plug yer phone into laptop etc.

Most phones allow 3G - internet connection through this
