Why is it that when somebody turns on the microwave in my house i lose wireless signal? It goes from like 5.5 to 1mb and i cant connect to interwebz anymore or my server.

Microwaves work @ 2.45 GHz which is in the same freq band as your wifi. Try all the different channels on your wifi. You should get one that doesn't interfere.

Well were using a secured network from my house to his house (I have the internet, he has the server and his own internetz) using his wireless router and my wireless Access point. Both Linksys Wireless G. Just change the channels on both? Orrr just one or what? I cant exactly put a box around our micro cause its one of those hanging ones.

Ok. Ive never been able to get inside the Access point. It sort of just worked when we hooked it up. Do i just use the usual address to try and get in it?

Download and run Angry IP Scan from here. You should be able to pick up the LAN IP of your AP from that.

Browse to that IP with your web browser.

p.s. if you never gone to the AP config how did you set up your wifi security?

We did it from his wireless router and used the access point as a signal extention. I guess it just auto configed to his router?

It was the usual i figured. Luckily i rememberd my pass and stuff i had set on it. Everything is set to auto or w/e? Do i still have to change channels on this one? Or if i change channels on his would it automaticaly do it itself?

Ok it worked. Now all i gotta do is wait till my mom uses the micro to make some hot tea. Changed his router from 11 to 6 and mine is set to auto.

We have 2 different kinds of microwaves here and they both do the same thing. I believe this might have solved the problem. Only real way to know is if we cook for about 3 minutes or longer or defrost a pound or 2 of beef.
