winsxs

Hi there

I have recently rebuilt my HTPC and put in a 32gb SSD as the primary drive which is running windows 7 home premium. After the install and updates I was left with about 7gb to play with. As you may or may not have guessed most of that has been taken up by the winsxs folder in the system32.

My question is has anyone come up with a way of managing this problem?

If I install anything now and i get the option it goes to my secondary drive.

thank in advance.

change the systems environment variables (TMP and TEMP) to somewhere other than the SSD. also disable hibernation and system recovery, and if you have 4GB+ installed disable virtual memory

Thank you for your replay.

I did notice that the hibernation was taking up rather a large amount of space as well.

With the virtual memory do you mean move it to the other drive?

if you only have 4GB then move the VM to another drive... this will hinder performance.....BUT, on the other hand, if you have 6GB or more - you do not really need VM
