windows XP interesting change

last night 3 of the computers in my house where reformatted and i always used to be buggered about activating windows but when i did it to these 3 computers it didnt ask to do it anymore... mmmm strange i kinda thought it had something to do with the new generation of operating systems coming out like 2003 - x64bit and all that i dont really no

are u sure they have been activated and are you sure you reformatted, u didnt just reinstall or repair windows.

nope full reformat and reinstall of windows, and i didnt need to activate windows over the phone or anything

Did you re-activate over the web?

It should do it automatically in theory (if they've already been activated)

nope see thats the thing, you can only do it once or twice over the web, then after that you have to ring up microsoft and activate it, but i used to have to do that all the time but it dosent ask me to activate it anymore

the may have been 'corporate' disks where activation is not required <these disks area a time saver> or where thay beta disks <x64 windows???>

nope it was actually a dell XP disc that came with my the other comps in my house and its sp1
