windows XP interesting change

last night 3 of the computers in my house where reformatted and i always used to be buggered about activating windows but when i did it to these 3 computers it didnt ask to do it anymore... mmmm strange i kinda thought it had something to do with the new generation of operating systems coming out like 2003 - x64bit and all that i dont really no :o
 
are u sure they have been activated and are you sure you reformatted, u didnt just reinstall or repair windows.

nope full reformat and reinstall of windows, and i didnt need to activate windows over the phone or anything

Did you re-activate over the web?

It should do it automatically in theory (if they've already been activated) :)

nope see thats the thing, you can only do it once or twice over the web, then after that you have to ring up microsoft and activate it, but i used to have to do that all the time but it dosent ask me to activate it anymore

nope it was actually a dell XP disc that came with my the other comps in my house and its sp1
