ed up on me and i need to reformat:rolleyes:

and wondered if i should stick with pro or go mce,is mce any better?

any better performance?,advantages? disadvantages?

i have both so no buying is needed.

oh and how do you backup all firefox favourites?

thanks in advance.

Well personally, unless you often watch videos, run slideshows, pictures, music the like I wouldn't buy it. Actually, I still wouldn't buy it. I don't know of any performance increases, but there may be.

To export your firefox Fav's go to manage bookmarks under bookmarks then, File>Export and save it somewhere, burn to disk or transfer to a flash stick.

I'd go with 2k3 personally, I'm not fond of XP or MCE tbh.

Or, you could Linux it up and say screw windows all together :)

XP and MCE have very little differences

The networking in MCE is more similar to XP Home edition. It can be tweaked to go onto a domain tho.

Its basically XP Pro just with an MCE app being brutally honest. There are other apps out there like GBTV, SageTV, MythTV and loads more that do an ok job of being a media centre if not quite as good.

Also check your tv card is compatible as well with it.

well ive installed pro now, just setting it up n restoring all my stuff and putting the drivers on.

ive decided to start doing a format and fresh install every so often(maybe every 6 months or something)

i will give server 2k3 a wizz when i next format even though ime not to fond of the win 98 type look:p

thanks peeps.

Yeah, thats what i tend to do, format once every 6 months. still unsure why anyone would use a server os in a desktop enviroment.

cos it works as a desktop much better than xp cos it doesnt have all the crud that xp has with it

tyru, but i dont think vendors of the latest graphics, sounds, tv cards etc will be making drivers for 2003 meaning the only way is to do a bodge job and use some that are build for some other os. just my opinion. built for server use, should be used for server use.
