Windows 8 Editions

Hi,

I read this earlier and thought I would post for everybody to see.

Windows 8 is going to come in only 3 variants.

2 editions for pc's - Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro

1 edition for ARM based tablets - Windows RT

I can only assume there was limited market for the ultimate/professional edition of Windows 7 so they are slimming them down to 1 edition (pro) which will include everything and standard will be like home premium?

Makes more sense to condense the versions down, there is hardly any difference between them anyway and at least this way you get more from the standard version of W8 than you would if they still had Home, Home premium, Pro and Ultimate.

Good move if you ask me! Back to the old(ish) days.

Makes them seem a little less money grabbing.

This makes more sense - Will be getting the Pro version if i upgrade to win8.. Don't think im going to straight away though..

i see they will also have an enterprise edition, it's about time that they consolidated the versions, and looked more into keeping their customers happy or this could be another Vista, not sure about calling the tablet edition RT or whether im interested in windows 8, it really comes down to cost of the upgrade..

i learned my lesson with the release of Vista to wait and see the reviews on windows 7 and although i actually liked Vista Ultimate, MS offered little to the people that bought the Ultimate version with the extras they where supposed to add-on...
