Windows 7 network strangeee problem (Solved now)

Hey guys,

I really need your help as I am lost.

I upgraded my router from a Netgear to a Linksys, it works great on Wifi on my Laptop and on my main PC (wired).

My main PC has two HDDs one for my dad and one for me. Both have Windows 7 64 bit installed. One Windows only ever runs at once.

I use Static IP's.

Router 192.168.1.1

Main PC 192.168.1.2

Laptop 192.168.1.3

Now this worked on the Netgear router fine, no problems.

The problem I am having is that on my copy of Windows 7 on my HDD I can not get the internet to work. I can connect to the router settings and that is it. I can't even connect to websites by IP such as Google.

I have tried the latest Windows 7 network card drivers, "upgrading" Windows 7 again. All the settings are set correctly in the IPV4 box. I even tried rolling back the network card drivers before updating them.

I have tried network diagnostics but with no luck, just says "no problem can be found".

If I run ipconfig all settings are correct...

I just get a yellow triangle in the network device in system tray.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks,

Laurence

Doh! Why does this always happen. These forums are good luck :D.

After upgrading windows I uninstalled the network card drivers, scanned for hardware changes, windows put it's own on. After setting all the IP/DNS settings again it decided to work this time.

Windows 7 sure is great but I hate the network settings.

'upgrade' to Linkseys! Oh dear. When it comes to network stuff like routers, access points, switches ect I always use Netgear. Lifetime waranty too

Upgraded Linksys 54g (which probably is the-classic wireless router of the G-decade) to Linksys 310N thingy that had absolutely fantastic features - which literally melted !! Settled for D-Link 855, which I have to say is pretty darn good.

*stands with effed Netgear 4 port 1G switch in hand*

Lifetime waranty aye ? I'll have to check that out.

Netgear kept locking up needing a reset to fix. No support. Still Netgear was miles better than the Belkin's we had before, which kept overheating.

Linksys has been bullet proof so far, much better built, dual antennas and just gets warm.
