Windows 7 E and N Variants

Apologies if this has been discussed before (I'm sure it has) but does anyone know the differences between the Win 7 'E' and 'N' editions as listed HERE?

Planning on pre-ordering but wanted to make sure that I wasn't buying the wrong edition. Comparison table shows no differences between them but there must be some difference?

E, as mentioned above, does not have IE8 installed, and so you need to have a firefox install (or your choice) handy.

N does not have windows media player installed by default, nor IE8.

E = The only version that will be sold in the EU, minus IE8

N = Version without IE8 + media player to comply with other anti trust regulations.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I'll be leaning towards E as firefox still has issues displaying all websites properly.

The link posted in the OP allowed either version to be purchased? Doesn't matter much to me though considering I'm leaning towards variant E

Thank you!:D

You mean: webpages aren't displaying properly in Firefox? Badly coded and tested ;)

I don't want IE8 installed as I need IE7, IE8 doesn't support Citrix properly! WMPlayer is fine don't care if I have that installed.

Still debating if it's worth buying a new OS instead of Vista!

am i the only one seeing that without a browser how are you ment to download one :D

You're right. There will be people who have just bought their 1st computer, get home, switch on, no browser! How do you get a browser?

Maybe email a friend to email one?

Maybe buy an "internet" related magazine with CD with it...

Google's OS would be quite interesting... - if it's a Web-based OS, would it have a browser in it?? If it does, would the EU court ban it also?... Looking forward to some more news on that later on!

Tak.
