Windows 7 build

Has anyone got any ideas, Ive just put together a new rig with a radeon 5770, and even when I've installed the drivers its still showing as 'Generic VGA device', so I cant enable aero etc...

Anyone got any ideas?

what driver pack did you install?

was it the one specifically for the 57 series?

Ooh, I got just the main install package, which it said supported the card... Ill give that one a try, cheers

Shouldn't the latest 9.1 release cover this ?

Concerns me that Win7 doesn't install a driver of it's own instead of generic vga. U can't tell me microsoft havent been sniffing the cards.

This is ofc assuming u have the basic chipset drivers on ok?

Everything else worked fine- Windows seems to have got the drivers for everything but graphics.. As a precaution i've had the disc in to install chipset drivers, but it doesnt seem to have done anything Im gonna try those driver pyro linked to, see what happens

yeah, all my chipset drivers were installed by default too, only drivers i installed were video, xfi and deathadder

there are no 5700 series entries in the official 9.10 catalysts

you can grab the drivers i linked to or try the 9.11 betas on the open cl pages

Are there any pros/cons using the intel x58 official chipset or the automagic win7 ones ?

running the chipset installer only updated the ahci driver here when i tried it.

for me, this was a bad thing as the built in win7 driver supports TRIM, while the one included in the intel chipset pack does not.

rolling back was painless tho

Same way my vista installs GTX280 drivers when the copy is older than the card maybe ?

Microsoft do get their grubby mits on hardware long b4 the public do.

EDIT: not on this occassion obviously. no idea why.

My nVidia drivers were also installed.

But how it installed the latest one was beyond me.

Me too, it's insanely fast, got me a bit jealous

There's a Corsair X128, I7 860, 8gb Ram, 4770 and a pair of 1th Sammy F3's in there.. boy does it fly!
