Windows 10 & SSD: disable prefetch and superfetch?

always had a local account. and all the stuff off. actually watching the vid.. 99% of that i had already done during setup.. so none of that stuff was ever on. i really don't see why people are so adamant its data mining to a point you shouldnt use it.

I guess it's just a case of comfort level's some, like myself, would rather not have my data mined (my history of transgender Asian midget porn is for my eyes only man that's not cool to dox that stuff to try sell me adult toys or entertainment!!) others are willing to sacrifice some privacy for convenience and/or performance I don't think either is right or wrong just personal preference.

This would imply what exactly? This isnt conspiracy it's proven fact, also considering your countries history in regards to spying on its populace I would have thought most Germans would be against this sort of thing? (Please do not take this an attack its very diffucult to convey tone via text I meant absolutely no offence)

EDIT: I will say however that the "Spying" may not be as egregious as many make it out to be it is still something to consider if privacy is a concern.

Many people over here are against anything with a mic even built in. it having Internet as well makes them go nuts. I find that behavior ridiculous and that's also one of the many reasons we don't have YouTube live streaming for example. I don't care who scans what from me and I'm surely not someone who is willing to hold a camera into my face all day, in fact I strictly don't upload images of my self to the Web unless it's an absolute necessity. You can never know what or who ever sees that. *tinfoil*
What I'm saying is that these companies don't care about how you called your mother or what colored dog you just saw. They want information about what they need to perfection their ads for example, and I frankly don't care if they know that.
Many also say they have youryour credit ccard information etc. yeah they might have, but I don't see any lost money on my bank account so I don't give a damn either.

All this W10 is spying on me so I won't get it crap is getting kinda annoying, like now all of a sudden people care? You've been giving up your data rights for years and years now. Time to get over it and just disable what you can tbh.

dont get me wrong.. i dont think its right to essentially spy on end users. and really think they shouldnt be allowed to and no EULA should give you a choice of "give us all your data to sell to other people or dont use us" but most do these days.
like razor coms..
That specifically says it will give your email to people. they dont even know who those people are or what they will do with it, But they have confidence that it will be used in a proper manner..

I have never seen any where in MS tos/eula that they will be distributing your information to any one..
What i do see all the time in MS terms however is that any data acquired will not have personal information. or any method of identifying you as a person..
you dont need to have a MS account for 10, so the os is not linked to an email (unless you linked it)
hell my hotmail address was mad back in the day where you could put Afghanistan down as your country and didnt have to enter a zip/postal code or address so if i use that that still does not really point to me.
now an IP address is different that is attributed to me as that goes through an isp that i pay for. but that has nothing to do with MS. so if any one wants to data mine us then that would be the 1st port of call if that sort of stuff was legal.
3rd party apps that people install like razor coms is however how they get data.
and primarily things like google.

im not saying that windows is not trying to accumulate data about how people use the os. but if you were making an OS wouldnt you want to know what it was mostly used for which features most people use and which weren't?
I would personally want to know that so future versions or upgrades would specifically focus on those features..
One thing i deffo would not care about if i was a OS creator would be. your documents, your internet history or how many times you search for pr0n a week.. None of those things would help me in my businesses.

Just back everything up and then do a reinstall. Otherwise it's loaded with previous junk from the last OS and slows it down. You won't need to reenter any keys if you do so. When it asks you during the OS install just skip it and after you get your internet up Windows will automatically reactivate since your key was already activated on there server. They whole key/license thing is different with W10.

I've made a bootable DVD weeks ago, I assume I can still use that?

Nope. Once a Window OS launches I'm pretty sure the build doesn't change until you get a major update like a SP1 pack or in the case of windows 8, 8.1

Well I'm going to do a clean install of 10 come weekend. Getting more and more weird issues, confirming why I never did upgrades in the past. Even with Windows fast boot on it takes 33 secs, and to shut down one or two minutes! Folders open slowly sometimes, software suddenly stopped working etc.

And if that doesn't work I'll re-install 8.1 and say 10 isn't for me yet.

Yes that's about the same time i'm getting with the boot, Sure windows 10 is faster for some people and it's not for people like me, Also to you might run into some other problems too like when you press the Windows key and try and search the search doesn't work sometimes also you might get some strange flickering too lastly if you have Steam you could get some VAC errors too, I have seen the VAC errors is to do with Windows 10.

I'm not saying that you're going to have the same problems i'm just letting you know what could happen.

Here's a link to my system, http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/z7c3TW

I'm pretty much a Windows noob i really shouldn't be i have been using Windows since like Windows 3.1 but i know there is good ways in setting up Windows.

From what i have read on some other forums that you should never have Windows Update enable i'm sure there is a ton of other thing that can be done too.

As for the Crucial momentum cache i'm not sure but i'm sure there will be other people here could tell you.

You should disable drivers through windows update, rest is fine. I did it via some menu, where you pick how device drivers are installed. Can look it up for you if you want?

As for the momentum cache, that was a question in general :)
The SSD sends all random writes to the RAM and can use up to 4GB, which then spits back sequential writes to the SSD. Sounds good on paper.

Yeah i know now about the Windows update thing like i said i'm noob when it comes to Windows, I'm going to look some more for a decent tweak guide for Windows 7/8.1.

I don't think i will be updating my other system to Windows 10 TBF Windows 8.1 is working fine on my other system i don't see why i should upgrade to Windows 10 my other system does really nothing lol

My other system is not a gaming system it's more of a media system

Now, for the second time, my system just shut down, tries to reboot itself but fails immediately and continuesly. This happened for the first time the evening when I enabled Crucial's Momentum Cache, while in-game. Tonight it was during Windows Media Player. Just to find out if it's the Crucial feature I turned MC back off - but maybe it's the Windows install. To be honest, I can't wait until I've done the fresh install.

EDIT: Well it happenend again just now. Hoping it's the install and not because I flashed the SSD firmware. I did find people with identical problems so I'll run SFC to bridge the re-install.
