Win98 on Laptop problems!!

I bought a second hand laptop a short while ago, it's worked fine for about three months but now displays the following message:

Invalid VXD dynamic link call to device number 3 service B.

Your Windows configuration is invalid. Run the windows setup program again to correct this problem.

Press any key to continue....

When I press a key it powers down.

I have just formatted the hard disk and reinstalled 98 and still get the same message, anyone got a clue as to what the problem is?

Machine is a Toshiba Tecra 8100.

I think I have it sorted now - looks like some mem that has died and is causing the error.
