If the rest of the system is crap that probably means you have no money anyways and wont be able to afford to buy the rest of the parts needed for these prizes!!!

Yeah no one likes someone actively seeking the sympathy vote hence why people who just "get on with it" despite what might be a bad situation get so much admiration from others. Back on the adblocker topic though I can also happily confirm that like many others here I too have adblocker exclusively turned off on OC3D and as Tom says, they're relevant ads anyway so not an eye sore in the slightest.

Probably true in most cases; but there are people with crappy rigs who can't afford a whole new PC but with the help of a little "push" they could afford it.

Tbf I've got what I'd call a "crappy" rig and it's got some hard years in it, but it's better than no rig at all. I'm also in the process of saving up and buying parts ready to put together a new one. Joining OC3D kinda gave me the upgrade bug and seeing all the rigs on here gave me the much needed kick up the backside. Every time I settle on something for the new build I find something better and go "ooooh thats only a bit more expensive, I'll get that instead", for example, the PSU I'm getting costs almost double what I originally picked :lol:

Decent computers are not cheap, but if someone is that bothered by what they're running it's not hard to budget a few quid here and there, sell off some old crap (everyone has sh*t lying around that they no longer want/need), do whatever is necessary until you can afford something better.

I guess what I'm saying is, If you whine about your rig and don't try and change it yourself, then you've only got yourself to blame for being unhappy with it. Expecting hand-outs because you complain is pitiful.

True. got the bulk of what I need to build a rig. Just saving up for a new mb-processor and memory. Probably will buy a old I5 kit , just to utilise the bits I have already got instead of them hiding in the cupboard. But I'm not whinging. Just lost the build bug after christmas and have become to comfortable using the lappy!

Well I for one think the PMs went out on the night, unless they're monitoring this thread to see who starts winging about it, but I'm inclined to believe that random means random and there are no external factors affecting the decision, so I'll stick with the PMs having been sent already.

From what I can see nobody "attacked" or "bashed" anyone, just a few calling out others for trying to pull a sympathy vote/sway a decision.
At the end of the day it's not an entitlement, or done on the basis of who has the worst rig or most heartbreaking story. It's a randomised giveaway, a bonus for users of the forum where everybody has equal chance, already having a "great PC" is irrelevant.

I'd like to be one of the lucky few, it would inevitably make a huge difference in my putting together a new rig, and who wouldn't want that? But it isn't going to piss on my day if I'm not because I don't expect to be given anything for free in life and neither should anybody else.
