If you have the case you can check for yourself. If not then IMO and many others on the forum we would advise you too look into a different case for watercooling. Other than that we really can't help much due to the fact many of us don't have that case.
Depends on budget and what exactly you plan on doing with watercooling? If it's just a CPU loop then a 240mm rad is completely sufficient but if adding in GPUs then it depends on which and how many. Also overclocking must be taking it into account.
Just to be sure as well what PSU do you have? Need to make sure it's not a crap one before investing all this money.
Well I have the XSPC Raystorm 750 w/ 360mm rad chosen. I want to get my FX8350 to 5ghz and maybe add my 7970 to the loop (if I can get a cheap waterblock)
My PSU is an Antec 620w HCG and budget for case is $160
Pump problem... the 750 pump is only good for 1 rad/1 block. Gonna need a D5 in order to be able to handle it all. So adding a 7970 is not really an option unless you are keen on killing the pump quickly.
Besides AMD are announcing new cards on Sept 25 so i would not advise on investing more into the 7970.
PSU is okay but doable. For 160$ you can find a NZXT Switch 810 on newegg for sale right now(last i checked) and that IMO is the best all in one case for the money.
So is there another kit that I can get to cool a GPU and my FX8350 below 200 USD? Btw, is there a price on those new GPUs? And I can chose another PSU as long as its similar price as the Antec...
The one from performance PCs is cheaper after adding the things needed on the other site.
And no there is no kit under 200$.
No concrete details. Should look it up for yourself to see if you can find anything. I only found out it's supposed to be like a titan/780 but cheaper than a 780.
Ok. Non of these parts are purchased yet btw I should have mentioned that... The case you mentioned is awesome! I'm definitely getting that. And the PSU can change if it's around the price of the Antec one.
Also look into the Corsair Carbide Air 540 if you like that style. Shorter but fatter(both are full towers i believe). Try to get a Corsair HX650/AX650 or Seasonic X650/X660. Higher end units but PSU investments shouldn't be cheap ones as they can easily kill an entire system.
I see... And how is the HIS IceQ X2 7970? The cooler I mean... And since I can't really afford a GPU block or the kit necessary to make one, is the 360m rad too overkill for getting the 8350 to 5ghz?
IMO i would wait on investing in any AMD card until the 25th of Sept. I would suggest a 360 rad over a 240 in this case. Lots of volts will be put through the chip. Also why 5ghz? Anything above 4.6ghz for FX cpus start to negate any improvements.
I'm new to overclocking as you can probably tell ^_^ This is also my first build... I honestly can just go with an AIO kit. It's easier and cheaper for me. The only thing preventing me from getting an H100i is the complaints. It always seems like it's 50/50 bad and good And it's being built in December, so I will wait for AMD.
Well if you want to expand your loop onto your gpu it's a better investment to just get one with a better pump than a cheaper one but later on needing to a better one. Other than that i suggest an AIO but anything above 1.3ish volts the H100i is gonna start struggling.
Ok so how about the switch 810. And the XSPC Raystorm 750 w/ 360mm for just the 8350 at 5ghz. (5ghz for showing off. 8 cores at 5ghz just sounds beast
I can tolerate 4.6 if it really doesnt change anything, but yeah...
Sounds good but a better pump WILL be needed if you ever expand the loop. Also it's just a safer bet to get the D5 version over is you can run it slower and have it more quiet. And it's future proof along with holding it's resale value at a much higher price than the 750.
Seems like you are interested in GPU watercooling so may as well get the D5 now and later on when the time comes you are already ready to go.
Ok. I guess I'll invest a little into the D5. And whats the cheapest waterblock, (universal or for the 7970. I'm only mentioning the 7970 for now I might change) Also, a single 360 will be good for the 8350 at 4.6 or 5 and a gpu?
Single 360 will do 5ghz. It mainly depends on voltages. Gpu wise just check on PerformancePCs and FrozenCPU. The 2 sites i linked earlier for blocks. Many available so it's hard to tell which is cheapest.
