Which psu for £50-70

I got the PSU today :)

They didn't despatch it until yesterday :( so not too happy about paying £15 postage

I have a problem tho, the PSU doesn't fit into the case

Either need to modify my pc7 or buy a new case now

I have it running everything hanging off of the back temporarily

it too big?

Yer it's too deep :( won't fit on the rails of the pc7-plus :(

The only way I can think of getting it in is to drill out the rivets and bend the supporting rail of the case but it's where most of the strength is in the case so will probably end up buying a new case, might have a look at my old custom case which has a p4ht in atm :(

here's the difference between the psu's :(

edit:

standard psu height - 86mm

alienware psu height - 100mm

wow that is quite a difference, u might end up cheaper just gettin another proper sized one from corsair etc

i used to have the 530w version of that tagan

Don't ever get a Hipro then ! They're frickin HUGE.

Sorry to hear it's too big dude. If you're after a new case though Zalman do an absolutely goooooorgeous little budget case now. £42.99... It's obvious that they have taken careful note of Silverstone, Cooler master and Antec's budget cases and have really hit back.

Seriously, how nice is that for £43 ! I want one myself tbh. Might even change out my black case for something different soon when money isn't so tight.

yeah mate i was peepin about for a new case and i dunno what it about this but i quite like it and its cheap

and its only £44.38

I just checked and that Zalman doesn't have rails. That's the issue I would imagine.. Those rails are designed around a single PSU size.

Kinda quirky I like that ! Have you seen that mega crazy Propeller case? It's frickin WHACKED dude. I soooo nearly got one..

Funny looking side yes? That's because of this

Note it has a fully inbuilt fan controller too? Here's the inside.

So you would likely need to bend in that stupid PSU holster, but it won't affect the integrity.. One more pic then (because yes, the fan is LED lit).

But here is the kicker and the bit I had to rub my eyes over.. It's £25.19 with the VAT done on SCAN

I tell you, I wish I'd got it now. Not because it looks very pretty but because my cards wouldn't be struggling for breath during the hot summer months. And at £25? it's a bit of a no brainer really eh?

not sure whether to send the psu back atm as I love my pc7 and the psu obviously isn't a standard size :(

nearly went down to maplins to buy one from there for now

Completely ignore the picture, the seller is a bloody retard. What you actually get is an 80+ 1000w Delta PSU (of server fame).

If you don't want to spend that much try this one. Again ignore the pic, I have bought three of these now. 80+ certified Delta 750w.

Out of interest what cases are used in these images?

The top one is a Cheiftec with an Alienware face on and the bottom is a predator 2.

Both are badged Alienware but both come as about 20 cases from Chieftec with the exact same inner casing.

Couple of things quickly...

The PSU has standard pattern screw layouts so the only reason it won't fit your case is because of the rails. In all honesty I have never owned a case with rails because I don't like Alu cases and I don't usually buy cheap cases. I like them thick and heavy and thus the PSU doesn't need any support..

You are indeed entitled to a 7 day no quibbles refund on ANY internet purchase. Simply becasue you can't view the item in the flesh.

Any way, I will pm you now with some advice. Up to you what you decide to do with it but I don't want to post it here because it could be misconstrued. Keep an eye on your inbox.
