Which PS3 package worth it?

Basically I can get 20% off a ps3 in woolworths via staff discount. Which would be the most worthwhile that woolworths offer?

As in... 40gb vs 60gb

Number of games

Extra controller?

Extras?

I want to fold on it as much as possible, wire it up to my dell 2007wfp (when not on the bigger tv downstairs).

I dont really see the point in those crap games they try to throw at you but another controller would help the multiplayer front...

Its either a ps3 i reckon...or...a new gfx card (the 9800s will be next year wont they? :( Think i might just save up for one of those)

Ideas?

60gb for sure, four wireless controllers, and maybe 3-4 of the top selling titles should get you pretty well squared away. And I like your idea of folding, PS3's really crank out the serious WU's.

I'll look today at work what they offer. Will I fill 60gb? I will be moving data regulary anyway - so i think the 40gb might do.

I think 40gb is enough, though I have the 60gb anyway as it was the only one out at the time. Motorstorm is worth getting, along with mebbe PES, CoD 4, Colin McRae DiRT, perhaps Oblivion if you've not played it??

Haze is where it's gonna be at, and UT3

Well i could wait till after christmas to get it (there are collegue discounts all the time) when the next model refresh should be out and maybe a lower price?

Yet...the 9800s - when are they due?

I need something to promote my gaming experience :p

when i first got my ps3 i had the same questions and finally decided on 60 gigs because of the extra features. Also, you could get the 40 gig and swap it out for a better hard drive. Also get resistance... its awesome for a launch game

I don't like Resistance at all...maybe been spoiled for choice with loads of far superior other FPS and also gears

I'd get a 40gb tbh

Just bought the White PS3 40Gb package... came with Spiderman 3 BD. But what was annoying is the absence of HDMI cable in the package. You just get a standard AV cable that is only compatible with 480 resolution. Need to buy a HDMI cable separatly to have 480/720/1080 resolutions.

I think the 40 Gb package is the best deal, unless you need backward compatibility with your old PS2 games. And you can always change the HDD later on with a bigger one if needed.

Now I just need to buy Assasin's creed and COD4!

Aren't 60 and 40GB versiosn near enough the same price now anyway? Sees lots of retailers are trying to shift the last remaining units of 60GB versions.

Given the choice I'd go for the 60GB version - put's off the date that you have to uprgade the hard drive, plus you get extra USB ports and backwards compatability.

With a virgin credit card yor could get a 60GB version plus a couple of games etc from Virgin for around the £300 mark... Don't know how that compares to the Woolies price with staff discount though...

I've decided to wait till after christmas when hopefully the new revisions will be widespread

not to mention cheaper prices i bet! :D

I'm so tempted with a console atm. I hear forthcoming ps3's will upscale standard def tv images to hi def... If only the games were better. I convicnced my ps3 mates to get CoD4 cos it's graphically amazing on the pc. Oh, how I was dissapointed when I saw it on ps3!

I know loads of people with 360's and I do like the xbox live aspect. So, maybe Microsoft will get their fingers out and get some kind of distributed computing running on their system... Or someone will work out how to make Folding@Home run from a USB key?

Hmm..

That's funny since the general consensus is that Cod 4 is the same on all three platforms, if not better and smoother on the PS3 (article I read will look for link). Also games, there are plenty of good games out. Assassin's Creed, Ratchet and Clank, CoD 4, Heavenly Sword....just to name a few.

Love the way people try making these accusations when they just don't like PS3 so they go "This game doesn't look as good.... bla bla bla", really makes me rofl

I read an article in the PS3 mag and as the 40Gb is now a lot cheaper it's the better option? Reason being, there aren't many extra featues, you have 2 USB slots, but you can still use 4 via wireless, with 60Gb version the 'playstation 3' is in nice shiny letters though :freak:. With regards to the size difference, games aren't that big, your not likely to fill it up with demos unless ur crazy, and if you wish to record TV with it in the future you can use certain external hard drives with it.

If there is a big price diff between the two, just get the cheaper one imo. ;)

EDIT: Actually, one other important thing is as mentioned backward compatibility. I play quite a few PS2 games on it atm, so if you plan to do the same, you may want to get the 60Gb one...
