Hey guys I was just wondering whether I should get which of the following,

Celeron G550 2.6GHz 2mb cache £30
vs
Pentium G860 3.00GHz 3mb cache £45

I know the Pentium's better but is it really worth the extra £15?

now for the motherboards

MSI H61M-P31-G3 £34
or is there a better one I could get around this pricepoint?

thanks in advance

The G860 is clocked a little bit higher and does support faster memory (1333MHz).

May I ask what you plan to do with your pc?

Some gaming and some graphics work I have a very limited budget I have the case, psu and ram picked out its just down to these two

The games ill playing will mainly be Skyrim,Minecraft, source games and BF3 once I get it - Im not looking to max out games at 1080p but play at medium-highish at 1366x768 on a 15.6" monitor -my eyes hurt :(

It's a great little machine for the price tbh, I was properly impressed with its performance! But Pentium over Celeron in this case, I believe the Celerons are more for 'email PCs' and such.

yeah I know where your coming from and this saves me from having a bottleneck if I wanted to fit a GTX 650 ti right?

What's your budget? We can slap one together for ya that'll get you the most horsepower per dollar....or pound depending on which side of the pond you're on.

Thanks that'd be really helpful! :) yeah so im in the uk so I can use Aria and Scan - my budget is £60-£80 if I could squeeze it :L that's for the Motherboard and CPU I dont know if you could work with that and I dont mind buying used as long as its in good condition

thanks in advance

I could start a thread on the FS&W section and sell you a Athlon ii x3 +
Asus M5A78L-M LX V2 for £80 if ya want ;)

EDIT : I'm upgrading to a FX6300 on the 28th and the board is a spare I've got laying around, just though I'd mention that ;)

Don't think he can acces that yet so buying from a forum member is kind of out of the question.

If you do buy new, the MSI H61 board with the G860 are a great combo for your budget.

Didn't I read a post from Tom saying it was open to all members..? :/
If not, my bad.

Em I dont have the £80 at the moment but only have £50 - ill have 80 once I sell my two old gfx cards
but thanks for the offer I dont want to give you underpayment because Im on a really tight budget and this is mainly about gaming performance so ill consider it but thanks again
