Hi,

I need to buy new monitor and I have two choices only:

Samsung S23A350H

And Asus ML239H (btw any one a software to control brightness for this monitor ?)

Because I use the computer about 10 hours daily my eyes become sensitive to lights so my first priority is a comfortable monitor to my eyes, second is for gaming, design and programming

Note please I have these two monitors options only so please dont suggest others.

Thanks

I know this is of no relevance, but as far as LED back lighting with it's more blue tinge with reproducible light (compared to the white tinge of CFL and yellow tinge of Incandescent) you will probably find it the most using the LED backlighting as it's blue light make's such wavelengths of blue, white and ultraviolet light which can cause irritation of your retina, eyesight loss or blindness in extreme cases, skin conditions, skin cancers or heretic conditions that were of no symptoms before, ect. I understand the efficiency but you will probably not find any unsatisfactory LED or even in some cases CFL (though I do argue CFL is less, though it is quite bright at times) strenuous monitors unless your willing to go for a CRT monitor which is of ease to me in my own opinion.

Going from my own guess, I'd probably look into the finish as well as reportedly matte finish are less stressful than glossy as the gloss actually reflects set light which causes strain from focusing out the reflection. Your probably as of a best bet to try to seek these monitors in person to view them, purchase and then return to retailer or just resort to brands, which I hear the Asus brand is better but I personally am using a Samsung Syncmaster monitor. Sorry I could be of no help.

@Jade Topaz No thanks for your help. you say LCD are more comfortable ?

also what syncmaster model you have and how is the picture quality ?

That's really interesting. Considering I am thinking of buying a new monitor this is great information to keep in mind.

Thanks for the info

Well I'm glad you found it interesting, but I mean it's not merely me speculating. I did a research on such, and that is what I had concluded. I am using a Syncmaster 953BW at the moment which besides it's resolution of 1440x900 and size of 19 inches I'm quite happy with it's performance though I'm guessing it's off the market at the moment. Apparently from other people of the forums Samsung is the frontrunner of LED back lighting change, but I mean it doesn't mean that they don't make quality products in my case. I encourage you all to conduct your own research, maybe you will conclude that exposing yourself to such risks vs. Energy efficiency is the right way to go. I know where I live in Nova Scotia that our Premiere Darell Dexter had essentially forced all towns and cities to convert to LED light in a period of 5 years, but given my concerns I had brought up early in mind I don't really see it as a good idea. Also with the thought of them merely throwing out perfectly well incandescent street lights with such light bulbs completely goes against their conservative green party sort of ordeal. I can atleast say they didn't ban incandescent of this year as so much expected.

I'm happy with my HP 2011X WLED... not hurting my eyes unlike with my last LCD, I always had an itchy eyes every time I leave my PC.
