Would personally go for the Asus as they're a respectable brand. It also has a DVI port.

I have heard that AOC offer a lot of spec for the money and that they have great contrast, but the actual response time is incredibly slow.

Any reason you're not going Full HD?

Yeah I'd opt for the Asus as well. AOC seems more like a bargain brand to me and not that good a quality. Asus makes pretty solid monitors so I'd be more comfortable buying one of theirs.
