Which IDE channel to use?

At the moment I've got a master (OS and applications) and a slave (Backup, swap disk and temp folders) hard drive on the primary IDE channel. And a DVD-ROM and CD-BURNER on the secondary channel.

My DVD-ROM is starting to get read errors so I thought I'd replace it with a DVD-RW since they are cheap as anything now. That means I can also get rid of the CD-BURNER.

Would I be best moving the slave hard drive onto the secondary IDE channel with the new DVD-RW, and leaving the primary IDE channel just for the master hard drive?

If so should it be hard drive in the secondary master and DVD-RW in the secondary slave?

Cheers :)

Leave it how it currently is... Both hard drives on the primary channel and optical drives on the secondary channel.

Also, I'd keep your CD-Burner hooked up so that you can do direct disc copying if you need to. Much faster than the old copy to hd and then reburn technique.

Cheers!

Thanks FragTek :)

Just ordered the DVD-RW. Got a Pioneer one. Then hopefully can flash it with a RPC-1 firmware so I can watch my DVDs I bought in Canada.
