Which GTX 780 to buy?

Hey friends. Hope you all doing well?

I need some advice on which GTX 780 to buy and why.......?
I have an option of 4..........
1) MSI OC Twin Frozr Gaming GTX 780
2) Gigabyte GV-N780OC GTX 780
3) Asus DirectCU 2 OC GTX 780
4) Evga SC ACX GTX 780

Obviously the cheapest around here would be the MSI card. I basically need it for gaming and to do some bench mark scores as well.......

they're all good cards so you won't go far wrong with either. If you're not planning on overclocking then go for the one with the best stock clocks. If you are going to overclock then maybe find out which cooler is the best in tests or temp vs. noise comparisons

As with any overclocking however remember the silicon lottery is always a large factor

My personal choice would be the EVGA one but that's only really coz I love the look of their ACX cooler but if I had a Z87 MSI moBo i might go for the MSI as i believe there's some sort of cross hardware compatibility stuff in place that MSI have done

Thank you for your input. Yes i plan to overclock the card. I also do have the MSI GD65 Z77a Gaming mobo. I have read some reviews and benchmarks and in overclockable mode the Evga takes the cake........so i am baffled in 2 minds. Lol......not sure

Honestly, there's not an awful lot of difference.

The MSI is cheapest and goes well with your motherboard. What more could you possibly want? :p

Silicon lottery has everything to do with overclocking. If you want to overclock the nuts out of it then go for the card with the highest stock/boost clocks. Other than that stick with the cheapest.

Buy the cheapest one...

Hey buddy nice hearing from you. Hope you well? Is there a reason why i should go for the cheapest one? Seeing that according to benchmark results the Evga wins by a couple of frames more in all tests..........

Lol kinda true what you are saying......:p

Hello:p

Overclock and the frame difference will go away. I would just pick the one that goes best aesthetically with my rig for the cheapest price. If you really want the best possible clocks and etc then go for the one with best clocks out of the box.

Thank you mate. Always nice having you around to answer my questions......

I agree with NeverBackDown.

Most those benchmarks were probably done at stock speeds so they'll be irrelevant as soon as your start overclocking. That said, if the cards in the benchmarks were in fact overclocked, it could've just been the case that their EVGA card happened to be a good overclocker and the MSI card not too much...

I just invested in the EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX which will arrive on Wednesday. Bit of a leap from the EVGA 580 SC which is in my rig now.

According to the reviews i've seen, the evga appears to be the one with the highest stock overclock. I would personaly go for that one since i'm completely clueless about overclocking, however, if i knew what i was doing i would go for the cheapest one and overclock it myself.

Not that hard to overclock. Just a lot of repeating work. I pick aesthetics in this case since many 780s are exactly the same.

We have nothing bad to say about any of those cards.. They are better than what most of us have lol

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR SHOWING INTEREST AND HELPING ME CHOOSE WISELY.......

Sorry for a double reply. I sometimes use my mobile to reply and not always that easy lol.

@QuietOne I hope that card serves you well buddy

@Neverbackdown I still think I would be better off with the Evga one. But not to worry. I will keep you guys posted on my decision in the near future. Thanks again!

Just do not forget to register the card with EVGA and you'll get warrenty and etc(i think).

OP in your first post you said you would be doing some benching, if that is the case have you considered the EVGA 780 classified or the MSI 780 Lightning when it hits the shelves.

They are a little more expensive than the normal 780s but they are seriously fast.

Thanks SteelSA, I will be benching my 580 before I install my 780 to see how much difference there is. I remember spending around £900 years ago on two 8800 Ultra's for SLI, I ended up using one of them in the end ^_^

You should get more than double the performance from your new 780.
