Which GTX 670?

Easy peeps,

This is probably a no-brainer but needing to hear some advice from the pros!

I've recently put together a SB build and looking to upgrade my trusty 6870 (Absolute Soldier) to something a bit more shiny =)

The case I'm using is the Silverstone RV02-EW, so not sure whether or not to go for a card with rear exhaust?

I was looking for a Twin Froza IV version but doesn't seem to be released yet? What's the best 670 card to get at the minute?

Cheers in advance

4gb one. Cost more than a standard 670 but has more vRAM, so clearly it is the better one. But that is only better in the perspective of future proof performance. Now in terms of which is better in price the twin frozer 2gb is what I would agree with.

I've gone with the EVGA 2gb versions, because they haven't failed me in the past really. How many screens do you have?

What's your budget and how many monitors do you have? If you have multi-monitors 4GB 670 it is, if your playing on just the single 1080p screen the 2GB is the one to go for

Cheers for the info peeps,

I'm currently running a 22" but looking to buy a 24" (1080 or 1200) not long after the gfx card, I'll still keep my 22" to surf and what not.

Yeah have been looking at the Windforce and a friend of mine has just bought the EVGA ftw 2gb 670 so I'll ask him what he thinks of his too.

My budget it around £400 don't really wanna go any higher but could stretch it a little, was looking at the 4gb versions but could be overkill for just a 24".

If native res 27" monitors weren't so expensive I'd look into those but then I'd probably end up spending even more money buying a 2nd 670, just to drive it all

I would like Twin Froza If I can get it, as I've read so many good reviews on their older 580, any clue on its release date?

Cheers

Check out the Asus DirectCU II, it's amazing quiet, overclocks very well and looks awesome too. Personally it's my favourite 670 on sale atm

Cheers PetrolHead, Will most definitely check that one out.

Really dig the design of CU II cards, their build quality looks amazing and read that their VRMs are better then most cards.

Doesn't have to be super silent card as I have the 3 180mms running at full when I game, but would be a bonus at night time etc.

How hot does your computer run?

If its already warm/hot you might be better off with the rear cooler.

As for which one, depends how much do you want to OC them.

That's a great point SubTract thanks,

my 2700k's temp doesn't reach any higher then 58c on all four cores, whilst gaming with a 22" monitor. I am pretty happy with those temps.

Was just thinking of a rear exhaust because of the style of my case, but not sure if it'll make any difference. Rear exhaust reach hotter temps when overclocked??

Never have overclocked any of my previous video cards in the past but If I am lucky enough to get a good clocker, would be silly not to.

Rear exhaust will generally run hotter on the card itself, but wont put as much heat into your case. leaving cooler air for your CPU

Cheers SubTract,

I would like to overclock and with the 180mm fan blowing over the card, i think I should okay with either fan type.

Gonna wait it out for a review of the Twin Froza version.

Thanks for the heads up fella

personally i have the palit jetstream gtx670 2Gb and i think its awesome, managed to get the boost clock to a healthy 1325Mhz with very little prodding in msi afterburner lol

I have the DCII TOP and it is silent. cannot hear it at all, has never topped 55c at 44% fan speed, and have had no need to overclock any higher than the giant stock oc - runs anything at 1980x1080 at silly fps

. looks great, sounds great. Don't regret it at all

Have a look at my rig gallery if you want to see it in context, it's hard to see how large it is on reviews

nb, due to an unseasonably hot day and noticing some artifacts floating around i have craned the gpu boost back to 1250Mhz for safety, but thats still a pretty damn high boost lol
