Which fans for Define S?

Hey guys,

Som of you maybe already have seen my thread regarding small mid tower case?...

I've decided to get the Fractal Design Define S case.

And now I'm wondering if Corsair AF140's will be good in the front as intakes, or if maybe I should opt for SP's instead?...
Or will those AF's have enough space from the front panel and not starve?.

Perhaps Corsair's new MG series fans would be the best bet. They kinda combine the SP and AF series and have newer quieter bearings.

Noiseblocker Eloop. Best fans on the market. If you buy Corsair AF you will be disappointed with the quality.

I've had it the other way around... Bad experience with Noiseblocker Eloop, whined loads and sounded like the motor was toaring itself apart.

Corsair's fans I haven't had any issues with really.

Like wise, the NB eLoops I've had the misfortune to own have all been unbearable to live with even with custom curves or reducers very similar to Enermax. The best fans I've used are the current Fractals and Vadars, there is however nothing wrong with Corsair AF or SP fans IMHO they served me very well silently for almost 3 years.

Same, i can't really find anything wrong with the new Fractal fans & the Vadars, I think the Vadars are a very good fan they move a ton of air.

I'll try to find the review, but Corsair's MG fans are nothing special. They are not "that" quiet, and do not perform as well as the Noiseblocker fans. They are quiet when you consider the bearings etc, but then again, who ever hears noise emitted from there anyway. Its all about the fan blade noise reduction, and the MG fans have not improved that aspect much at all. And the price is very bad considering price/performance.

Performance wise, Vardars are the best I have ever owned, the issue though is the random lottery of them since they all have their own characteristic and can cause a nasty whining sound when linking 4 or more per channel of a fan controller. Using them on the mother board however, you can daisy chain them and they remain silent and deadly.

I have some Gentle Typhoons and best fans I ever bought. They are more quiet at 12v(1450rpm) than my SP120 QE was on 7v. Plus more air and more static pressure. All for the same money. Either these fans or Noctua. Really only ones I'd consider.

I have a couple of the new FD fans, pretty good but it they move less air than the GTs. Just as qiuet though (spins slower)

If you want to stick to the black/white Fractal colour scheme, I'd recommend the Phanteks case fans. They've been tested as some of the best for silent airflow. I'm not sure how good their static pressure radiator fans are (PH-F120MP), but their SP and XP are excellent case fans.
