brutally fast, and not overly expensive either, you might want to consider 2gb now 2gb later as only 2 doesn't really cut it in Vista these days (assuming you have it/plan to use it), 8-8-8 timings are not too bad considering the speed (1800Mhz) which I think is theh max the 790 can take?

hey thanks for that il be grabbing the PATRIOT PC3-10666 2GBX2 LL 7-7-7@1.7V,4gb of that for $320 Australian dollars..what do use all think?

just wondering what ddr2 ram do you have to sell im after some :)

DDR3 RAM is still too expensive in my eyes so I went for some 1333MHz OCZ gold stuff because it was £38 :D

As for a good choice it seems only OCZ are doing "normal" prices so far. Here is the set on my hitlist. 2000MHz of DDR3 goodness for what most want for 1600MHz.

I have the Striker II Extreme with Q6600 SLACR (dTek Fuzion v2 with quad nozzle), 2x 8800GTX in SLi (EK full cover blocks) all "chilled" by my PA120.3 radiator with some Yate Loons.

The dTek is brilliant with the quad nozzle however I must warn you about your GPU cooling. I first only installed the dTek to break my WCing virginity. This lead to low temps on startup and some brilliant gaming for about 3 hours. Thats how long it took for the heat in the case to soak through the tubing and slowly (but surely) raise the temp of the coolant so much the system (with my safeguards) killed itself for protection. The GPUs ran so hot with the stock coolers (80C is easily normal) that this occured. The 9800s are worse than the 8800s and you have 2 of GX2s. Your system will BSOD in 40 minutes tops. Its better to pay out now then have a comp that cannot run for long for ages. Oh and even with my gentle OC (normal of 3GHz and standard for GPUs) I see 50C temps from all cores and GPUs. So if I need another radiator you definitely will.

Sorry to give you this sort of response but you should know what you are getting yourself into. Its deep but oh so fun and rewarding.

cheers for ur response,i actually am running two rads.one for the cpu and one for the gpu, both rads are 120.2 if u want my config, add me on msn,fadz23q@hotmail.com

theres a diagram below, dont worry about the rad that says 120.1 there both 120.2

That looks good to me however I intend to split to flow for a parallel setup rather than series as my current setup is a series config and its way too hot for my liking.

I will do a progress log for my build this time round as the last one was more bodge-tastic currently the rad is duck taped on :D

start with a 2X2gig set. 4gig is slowly becoming the norm, at the same time you can find stability easier with 2 modules over 4.~
