i was just checking if there are any new bios updates for the my maximus, and i have the latest stable one, but there's a beta driver that says:

""Maximus IV Extreme-z 0902 BIOS

1. Enable support for Next Gen 22nm Processor.""

so does anyone know what the "best" cpu will be for this board? will it work with ivy bridge? SB-E(but i think this is a different socket right?)?

SB-E Is LGA 2011. Different socket, and as of now ivy bridge which is the 22nm next gen 1155 Socket will be out soon, Should see 6 cores, But as of now nobody knows names/ prices indefinitely right now.

yea thats sound right, thanks

i am hoping for a hex core with HT so i can upgrade some time next year

There will be no "best" CPU all LGA1155 socket CPU's work with this baby, SB-E aka LGA2011 is an entirely different socket

yes i should be OCing but i would leave HT on..... don't you have have 4 cores and 8 threads on ur CPU?

and sry i was just wondering what the "best" aka most cores/highest clock speeds that will becomes available for the 1155 socket

In those terms whatever the best Ivy CPU is will be the "best" for the 1155 socket. The current "best" SB one would be the 2700k, well when it's released in a few weeks it will be anyway.
