Hi

I am currently planning a new build and just don't know what case to get. There are a few simple requirements, first it should be able to fit an eATX board as im looking at a Rampage IV Extreme, two it needs to be quite and three not too loud (as in looks lol), although if it is cool I might change my mind.

I was interested in getting the Corsair 550D until I realised that it couldn't take eATX boards, I really liked the style and the fact it was a quiet box.

Oh and almost forgot I'll prob be fitting a H80 or H100 in it at the start until I can get a bit more funds together and get a proper water cooling kit.

Thanks in advance

Peter

For the price you cannot go wrong with the NZXT switch 810.

Leaves plenty of room for all your needs.

Another case would be the Cooler Master Storm Trooper. I almost went with this one but went with the 810. The only thing the 810 is missing is a built in fan controller.

I'm not 100% about the 810, I had a look at TTLs review of it and theres just a few design features about it, how have you found it to live with. I do really like the Storm Trooper it looks quite nice, I'll have to look at a few reviews for it though. Also how do you find it with noise? Are the stock fans any good?

Unfortunately I think this is a bit over budget, but I do like the styling

I like, needless to say a bit of moding done but even the stock is good looking

Everything is geting complicated, because I have also now found the Fractal Design Design XL. Ahhh I dont know. Ill work on a bit of a short list of what I've seen, but still more options welcome. Thanks

I love my switch it is a bad little case. Plenty of space on the inside as well as plenty of grommets for cable management. It can suit anyone that wants to water cool or air cool and has dust filters everywhere.

What I wish it had:

A pre drilled hole for a fillport.

A dust filter for the top. Or at least the option because I know the top is supposed to be exhaust, so it would benefit us that are going to be doing 1 off's.

One more 5.25 slots.

Having a fan controller built in would perfect as well.

NZXT Switch 810 all the way......

What these guys said.

This case is a modder's dream. I love this thing, and I'm not just saying that cos I work for NZXT (by the way, I bought it, and if you know how picky I am about cases, you'll know this means it was good). For your budget, I would say it's the best there is.

I've fallen for the Switch and am definetley getting one to upgrade from my current case! It looks like such a sweet case and there's some amazing mods and builds of it in the rig gallery and project logs, these were ultimately what swung me.

You should go check them out and see what others have done with it.

Hey Pete, Pete here. What were you planning to spend on this case?

There's plenty of cases out there. But they all fall short somehow. There art is to choose the lesser evil, and spend as little cash as possible doing it. But from your mentioning the 550D I take it you like understated, classy, monolithic looks?
