Which 7950?

Upgrading my graphics card this week and wanting to know which 7950 to buy.

My options are:

Gigabyte Windforce 3 = £270
HIS HD Iceq BOOST = £260
MSI Twin Frozr 3 = £260

Looking for a card that will run quiet and keep the card at low temps. I game at 1920x1080p

Which one would you recommend me?

Where are you shopping? I don't see you can get some cheaper than that, some of those prices seem to close to 7970s to bother with.

You can get a Gigabyte 7950 for £235 (back ordered), or MSI 7950 / Asus 7950 for £240 (this week only). Non-reference HD 7970s start at £300 and you can get XFX 7970s for £285.

Asus DCII TOP 7950s are good cards, I have one myself.

Really quiet card, even under load and it's a good overclocker as well, although that comes down to the silicone lottery more than anything.

They have a few 7950s on sale but that ends Wednesday 9am. I won't have the money until Friday.

Is it worth spending a bit more and getting a 7970?

That was the reason for getting a 7950. I will see what's on offer on overclockers this week and go from there.

I have an XFX 7950 Ghost Black Edition 900Mhz Overclock its a nice card.

Much of a muchness really those 3 cards are great. Go for something that will match your build theme/colours. I have found though the wf3 coolers to become noisy due to the fans going off centre.
I personally really like the HIS card.
Also what case are you using? All three will dump the heat inside the case. So you will need some decent airflow.

I've heard the HIS iceq card is very good. Not heard much about the others.

I can vouch for the Gigi Windforce, fast, quiet, cool, 235 on Amazon. Loads of OC headroom, got mine to 1120 on the core just by sliding the slider, so to speak.

The HIS Iceq boost is down to £240 now.

Think I will be buying that!
