What's the absolute best AP, and a best buy model?

Hello,

i'm looking to put an antenna on my roof, but i would need at least about 10m of cable to put it on my antenna pole, so i found out that i need an AP that works in client mode (have no idea what that means), that is connected to an outer antenna with a short wireless cable, and connected to a computer with a cheap lan cable that can be very long, but won't loose signal like the expensive wireless cable does.

So the question is

what is the absolute best AP that would do that, and what's the best buy AP, that is not expensive, but does the job good?

I currently have Canyon CN-WF511 card, but wouldn't mind changing to a new n standard card.

Any advice is appreciated.

Definitely www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320038&cm_re=ASUS_RT-N16

You'll want to flash DD-WRT on it which easily allows client mode. Checkout all the reviews on Newegg and Amazon. Cheers. As for the cable definitely, www.air802.com/400-flex-white-lmr400uf-ultraflex-equivalent

Since you're running it in client mode I fully expect you need a directional antenna so I'd go with

www.l-com.com/familylist.aspx?id=2149

or if you need something more discrete:

When I did it I just bought their cabling with N connectors because it was the least expansive & just bought adapters (to connect to the router) from air802 because they have minimal signal loss .15db or less. All this is as much of a starting point as I can give you...so be prepared to spend several hours planning/learning. In the end, it will be very rewarding!
