What will run on my Dinosaur?

Game Over

Have not done any benchmarking before. Have a Dinosaur of a PC. I downloaded Haven2.1 but can not get past the start screen lol. Am looking for good programs that I can use that will run on this old beast, just to play with till I get my new rig set up. I am downloading pcmark 05 as I type this, to see if that runs, but if you have any good recomendations please share. Below is what I am crippled with...

I actually found a site with some cool old school benchmark programs that run surprisingly well on my PC. So far I like the aquamark 3. Found it and others HERE they have the newer stuff that tom uses as well.

Answer to your question - not much, that's worse than my parents PC.

You'd be better off waiting for your prize and tinkering with benching then.

Also I believe 3DMark 06 will work if you want something to run desperately.

I found 2 that worked, and although you may be lyfao at my numbers, I was quite impressed that the old gal did as well as she did. I wonder if I could actually play Stalker Call of Pripyet on this thing? A buddy across the street offered it to me but I turned it down thinking I could not use it at all.

I tried pcmark05 but something failed at the end.

Anyway, the pic below is the results of AQUAMARK bench with settings as high as it would let me set them, they are listed there on the top.

At the bottom corner on the right are the results from the Stalker Call of Pripyet benchmark tool, its setting were medium, Static Lighting, 1024x768.

Im going to try these same old benchmark tools on the Snow White Rig and see what the numbers look like next to these lol. I was looking for some things to show before with old pc and after with new pc, benchmark type stuff and will also put up photos etc. these were the only programs I could find for now.

I will keep this computer and put it to some kind of use, it has never broke down on me other than a dead fan on the GPU that I replaced with a dual fan from an old 360.

the idea of running benchmarks for hwbot is to leave all the bench settings at default so the results are comparable.

tbh you should he able to run all the cpu tests and on the gpu start with 01 and work your way forward to 06.

I have issues with pcmark crashing and I can't work it out either :/

your not going to set any world records but that's not what its about on hwbot, its about beating those with the same hardware that matters most.

I've been able to run everything but PCMark05 and the DX10/11 benchmarks (this includes Unigine), on my 1.0 Ghz Duron/Radeon 9600Pro.

PCMark05 errors out somewhere on the end, but because I only have the windows classic style in this installion I've not put any effort in this one.

The version from HWbot does work though, as I submitted scores from my P4 machine.

wooo socket A! try some superpi and maybe wprime if it'll run. Also see if you can get that TRCD down, 5 seems pretty high for ddr1. 3Dmark03 should be a good 3D bench for that rig.

I got 3dmark03 and it runs pretty good, As for getting the TRCD down, I am having trouble finding a decent beginners (how to) guide, Anyone have a link? also the PC has 2 slightly different RAM installed as you can see from the pic below, Maybe it would run better if I took the slower one out and just ran on the pc3200 card alone? or better with both and tweak some speeds?

In theory it would run faster, but with so little RAM...

I'd say if you're running XP, have very few programs starting with windows and are rarely running lots of programs at once, it couldn't hurt to try.

ran a few different benchese, each once with both ram and again with only the higher ram, There was a change in the numbers but they were only trace. So will leave both cards in for the extra ram.

For benching mate those slight gains can be the difference between getting a point or not.

For everyday use I would keep it in and just take it out for benching.

what vdimm are you running? not sure what chips you've got on that ram but most ddr1 can handle 2.8-2.9v.. I'd leave them in for dual channel if you can get them to play nicely..shame you're not in the UK, I've got a bunch of socket A gear in the shed I'd happily share with you.

I do not know the VDIMM, I can not get bios to come up either, after some looking around on the net, I am thinking that my bios is locked by the manufacturer.

But thats cool, This computer does the net and Photoshop/office documents just fine. I will have a great computer soon. I'm just basically a total beginner and just trying to learn about all this stuff and using my current PC as a guinea pig.
