What temperature/voltages shall I not exceed?

I got my Q6600 clocking now and i have a noctua d14 cooler (massive!) too

Its idling at 20-25 at 3.33ghz as iv had to bump the voltage to 1.4v (still not stable)

Might need to bump it up a bit more or mess with RAM (dont think its RAM..)

So what vcore should I limit to and also what temperature load?

Cheers

1.5/1.55 max dont go over 80c after an hour or more of Prime95.

Dont forget you still need to increase the NB and FSB volts though ;)

Those temps aren't bad, but a boost to the NB can make a really big difference. Also make sure the NB has enough air getting to it. Intel chipsets aren't as bad as the Nvidia ones, but even so the NB can get nice and toasty

Yea 1.5 is the max voltage. I've got mine at 3.5ghz at about 1.45. Don't know how your getting 25c idle with that voltage. You must keep your room chilled cause I have same set-up and I idle around 35c.

I wondered the same thing recently. When I read stats and figures in magazines they always seemed to be far lower than mine. Obviously they are not lying because they are posting figures and stats, but it just seemed wildly far of where my stuff sits.

I know that different motherboards offer different temps (mainly down to the quality of the sensors and stuff) but I deduced in the end that it must be because they do all of their testing in an air conditioned office and not a 2mx3m room.

Thus now days I don't really trust in reviews. There are just too many variables. Especially when you consider that most reviewers (when reviewing say a HSF) do so on a test bed with no case around it.

Looks like someone has not set the TJ max of there cpu properly, that may explain the 10C difference?

Right i got my 5850 to 905 core and im gonna mess with memory now as its taken me up to 1.199v to get it stable

temps are maxing at 90c after an hour of furmark however iv ordered a nice 20cm fan for the side of my case which should help...

do you agree 1.199v should be the limit as temps are 90c (well until i get the fan and get a bit more leeway)

gonna see what i can get out the memory...and then clock more out of the q6600 :)

I did have set to the incremental settings but im happy 100% fan atm, cant hear it anyway!

at the moment its 905mhz core, memory 5000mhz and vcore 1.199v

shall i leave it furmarking while i shower/shave and report back max temperature? its idling about 48c atm

download hwmonitor and watch it when you game next fella. Or furmark for 30mins or so. 90c is hot but for furmark its not too bad.

ok :)

furmark is loading at 85c after 40 mins now iv made a bit more airflow using a desk fan by the side of the case

should be like that once my 20cm fan arrives

SHouldnt really need it tbh fella. Have you tried changing the paste on the GPU?

Clean it off and get some MX2 / MX3 or even better some of the Noctua stuff on there if you have some left over?

Ive started using the Noctua as my personal machine paste. Its just a bit runier and easier to work with. Ive seen temps drop because of it. There so little in them now just use what ever you have fella.

ok coool :)

cause i did the d14 using my mx2, but ill use the noctua on the card if its easier to work with (ie. not like glue!)

Aye I know its sounding like a broken record lately but the Noctua stuff is the shizz atm. (before anyone says owt I dont see any advertising on here either)

Really just is my opinions atm.
