What should I buy?

Also, caviar green HDDs are meant for eco friendlyness and not performance...so they're slower, but more reliable. For a storage drive they are good, to run an OS off you'd want a blue or black.

I'd put off the wheel and screen till your system is at least good enough you use them as they were meant to be used

Sorry IMO there not reliable, for fast, and save literally 1.5 watts, witch is 0.015kw/h litterlay not worth the extra money you spent going green, saves little to no money at all, like penies a year.

Yeah and my green drive went very funny, was always slow, started showing sings of bad sectors and lost of craocking and clicking, and lucky only just after backing up my 1tb data it died.

But yeah, was a waste of time effort and money in the end. Moved to a black drive... A Lot better

Sooooooo, you had a problem with ONE green drive and that means they are all carp?

What the hell is the world coming to ffs.

first of all i started with IMO, meaning In my opinion, Never said they are all crap, and considering im still on a drive i got with warranty (got given a black drive from wd)

ive read reviews and lots of mates have told me they were rubsih, and it didn't fare well in my hands, lasted 6 months from new and caused me a lot of hassle....

Also the whole green aspect of this drive is pointless as hard drives are not designed to pull lots of power. Hence most people know that a green drive is not what they want when deciding to get a more power eficent pc, and instead get a new generation graphics card that draws 20 watts or less on idle, or a 95%+ efficiency power supply, otherwise they wont really save anything in teh long run, nor will they be "going green"

The message that has probably been lost mid rant is Western digital will make no money out of this drive because of its power savings of about 2.5 watts unless its brought by people that are a bit loopy, or is very cheep and this is because there is a lot of room for efficiency improvement in almost all office computers and most gaming computers for that matter. Hence Western Digital has wasted there time producing a drive that's this pointless, when they could have been concentrating on a different product, i just see a major company fail. i also heard the green drives have been canned and arnt being produced any more, not sure weather its true though.

Sorry if my rant did no make sense, but you shouldn't reed so far into the sub text of a post saying that in my opinion they are not reliable drives due to a bad experiences i had with mine, and it reads in no way what so ever "ALL GREEN DRIVES SUCK" yet i do have a strong opinion on the product being that it was a waste of effort from western digital
