What Shape Should My Window Be

Hey guys, I'm finally building myself a new system, and I'm going to pick up a Lian-LI PC-7B Plus II, and instead of leaving it all nice a sleek and plain, I'm going to add a window to it or fun and looks. Only problem is I can't decide what shape/logo/design the window should be.

I could do the classic square or rounded square. I was thinking maybe a big circle just be different :p. Also I was thinking of doing a superman logo but it wouldn't fit very well, which brings me to another point... is there anyway that I can fill in that vent on the side? It's huge and in the way. So I want ideas of something cool to do.

Finally, what tools do I need to add a window. Think I should use a dremel or can I use a jigsaw or something else and a sander?

I use a lot of masking tape, a jigsaw with the correct settings and a fine ALUMINUIM blade, normal fine blades will clog way too fast to be any use, then use a guide to get a nice straight cut, smooth it off and round the corners with a coarse file, then a fine file, then add some trim.

what about a diagonal, narrow window?

Quick sketch up of llwyd's idea. Excused the ugly circle and line side... wouldn't come off without messing up.

Is that what you mean? Or no rounded edges?

Looks good, but I would say have it the other way so you can see the graphics card(s)...

How about three of those, one above each other, going the other way and stopping just before they show the bay cages?

Ye that's the one. Decide what the window needs to show and do that I reckon :)

I quite like it, but then again I kind of want something that pops but isn't gaudy, which is why i liked the superman logo, but it's been done so many times before.

Took the words right outta my mouth!

I'm doing a custom window too. I was sketching designs and thought, I need to build my rig first then decide what to show then work around that.

Personally I just want to show the mobo area.

Good luck

you could cut multiple holes

like get rid of the grill, and make it a window

stick a small square one over the cpu

stick one over the HDD

stick one over the psu

or somthing like that? :)

Sounds like too much work unless you used a large holesaw and made them circular. I don't know about you, MikeEnIke, but if I cut say 4 squares and one of them was crooked or lopsided, I'd go nuts and probably buy another panel.

Now that is sweeeeeet :)

If you can cut that nicely then do it.

What are you using to make those drawings? They look cool

Why don't you just buy a case with that exact window? I have the same case, I have a window just like that and the black side vent too.

Well, its called modding init, some people i know actually buy really crappy cases then mod them and then they look really cool.

I am modding a case as well, i will put up some pictures sometime.
