what PSU

Froger

he recommend me a power supply for my future rig, at current it has an i3 3220.
when I buy the graphics card with the PSU the graphics will be gtx 760, but I will upgrade my CPU to an i7 3770k and over clock later on.
So what power supply would you recommend for me if I u also have 2hard drives its for gaming mainly, I want it quite, and 80 plus at least, but I want it cheap, I will upgrade later, its only for a year or two max.
I don't need it sli ready but could be an added bonus but I am on a budget trying to keep it around 50 pound mark but I can go a little over. It also needs two 6-pin PCI power connectors.
iv got hold to sata adapters so don't need to worry about that, its just for me.
I don't know what brands are good quality.
Thanks for the help.

get one of the corsair builder PSUs. 500W will do just fine, around 50 pounds.
SLi and low budget don't mix well, so get that out of your mind for now, for 50 pounds you won't get a proper PSU that can handle it.

oh and on a side note, even though i tend to do the same, a few more paragraphs could tidy the post up. you stretched one sentence nearly over 6 lines

oh yeah, i have a tendancy to do that, sorry, do get carried away, english wasnt my best subject in school :P but thanks, there is a corsair cm 430 for 40+ pounds, will that be enough power for 3 hard drives and an ssd and a 760 and an i7 etc...

there you go, organised it a bit.

Just out of curiosity, why for a future build are you going Ivy Bridge?

Haswell is the newer tech (also comes with a slightly higher price tag) but surely future building on an old platform is not smart.......unless budget is key, if thats the case, then ignore the first part.

Also the HD 7950 works out to be a better deal given that you get the free games which you could sell on (lowering the overall price)

Anyway...
I think you'll need more than the corsair cm 430
For argument sake lets say you use:
i7-3770K
z77x-d3h motherboard
Corsair H80i
3x Seagate Barracuda 1TB drives
Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD
GTX 760

you'll get an estimated wattage of just under 400w, add in the RAM and the Overclock plus any additional fans and USB devices and you can see that you'll be at your limit.

Opt for something like XFX Proseries 550w or a Corsair CX500m or CX600m
