Yes ur thinking has he lost his mind but ime fed up with the coil whine from my ax850 and it has already been replaced

So i was thinking is their an equal or better psu that doesent have these issues ?

Or can u just not avoid this issue ?

The local store only offers corsair

Thanks beforehand

I'd say Seasonic Platinum Series 860W, super quiet like inaudible when the fan is going and that is only on when its over 40% load. Its psu the new AX850i is loosely built around.

I'd say if he's getting a new psu to try and get rid of coil whine, he shouldnt be going for the same manufacturer as last time? I think the point of this thread is to recommend a psu company other than corsair/seasonic :)

every PSU can do it. Just get it replaced, it was an issue with them at one point.

The AX is deffo your best bet IMHO

You may also find that it is your GPU

so whats the best course of action then ?

Ime guessing tom u mean the card is causing the psu to make this noise or the card itself is ?

A bit confused about what to do now :p

Thanks for all the replies really apreciate it

No, Tom means the graphics card itself is creating coil whine.

Is it really that unbearable?
My AX850 does whine a little itself, but nothing to warrant me replacing it. Any chance of videoing/recording the noise and put it on youtube?

I have the experience that recording doesent make it come over as
Bad :p dont have a proper device to record it , well my camera but its kinda shiz at sound recording :p

Its less then the previous one but still annoys me its just that high pitch noises are verry annoying To me and after a while i focus to much on it :p

I know ime coming as a nagging type :p

True my gtx 680 pcb does whine a lil but the bothering sound comes from my psu

It squaks when loading a screen of a game and also. When scrolling trough sites :p

roll up a magazine and use it to focus the sound to help pinpoint it.

Also, try using msi afterburner to limit your fps to 60, or 120 (whatever your refresh rate is). That may help.

To use it:
-enable afterburner on screen display (don't have to use it).
-a second jet icon with the pink numbers '60' appears among the icons near the clock/speakers/etc
-open this program by double clicking, it is rivatuner (underlying gizmo for afterburner, evga precisonx etcetc)
-click the wrench icon
-you should see 'framerate limit' at the bottom. Enter your refresh rate and click ok.

That's worth a try at least.
