What motherboard?

I am soon going to be doing my first PC build and i don't know what motherboard to get I will be using an i5-3570k.

I have been looking at lots of asus z77 motherboards cause I like the look of their ai suite II software but there are a lot of different boards.

Thanks

I've been looking for the same thing for myself.

I eventually went against the ASUS boards because they seem very expensive compared to the cheaper alternatives. For example, the UD3 from gigabyte and the MSI range can overclock just as well as the sabretooth and the p8z77 deluxe which are £30 more expensive.

I use an ASUS board at the moment, and I cant see why anyone would want Ai suite, especially not to buy a board just because it comes with it. I dont even have it installed because there's plenty of other programs out there which will do the same things anyway.

I'm still undecided about what to buy, I'm edging towards the UD5 because it seems to have the least blue on out of everything else

Other than the horribly coloured sabretooth.

As performance is all the same though, I'm considering the UD3 as well, to save money, but I'm not really sure

I bought the Asus P8Z77-V motherboard. I am pretty happy with it. I have always like Asus products they seem to last longer and you can always find drivers for their stuff. I think that Asus builds pretty good stuff at least what I bought. They all have their cheap stuff so you have to be careful. What I like about the board is the static protection on the USB ports, the 5 fan headers. I will only be running one video card and two hard drives so it has plenty of connections for my use.

As someone who likes the asus brand of motherboards i would suggest p8z77 v-pro for a first time build for gaming or the maximus V gene if your looking to get in to overclocking in a big way that said they are both good for either and also the msi z77a-gd65 has been recognise as one of the best by a lot of reveiws so one of these three is what i would suggest you buy, hope this is of some help to you

Whatever you do, do NOT just buy a mobo down to the software that comes with it. I have an Asus board myself, a P8P67, and it's great and i have the AI Suite II software too, but i never use it. If you want a solid Z77 board for a great price that's a great overclocker and looks boss go for an MSI Z77 GD55. Sure the Asus boards are great (although i don't really like the way they look, but that's my opinion), but the MSI boards are much better value for money and are built just as well, the Asus boards are a tad pricey tbh.

thanks for all your answers guys

I am looking at the maximus v gene cause it is well priced and i want to get into overclocking

I am wondering if it will fit in an atx case and if it's worth it

Thanks

It will fit in an ATX case as it is a micro ATX motherboard.

I personally wouldnt however. Other ATX boards will be just as good for overclocking, and I think micro atx boards look stupid and ugly in full atx size cases.

Go for a sabretooth, P8Z77 Pro, the msi series or gigabyte ud5 or ud3. They will all overclock just as well
