Long time no post! but I need your help again!

I am going to be raid 0-ing 2 60gb samsung SSDs tonight on my P5k Premium. so i have figured that i need to plug one on the inside and one to the outside, then when doing a fresh install of Vista x64 i need to have a JMicron Driver on usb stick while i install it (then push f6 or something). But i don't know which driver i need to use, there is 3 different ones.

JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.48.05

JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.48.05_eSATA

JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.48.05_eSATA Write cache disabled.

Can anyone tell me which one i need to use? Sorry for being a bit nooby but i don't understand hard drives that much!

Thanks

I'd go with the first one TBH. In all honesty that's just a guess, but judging by the name of the 2nd/3rd ones I'd say they are for eSATA support

Unless his "one to the outside" means he has one connected via esata? In which case he might need the esata version of the driver.

Good point.

Not that I'm questioning your reasoning dude, but RAID0 with one drive plugged in externally is just asking for catastrophic data loss. Just one accidental unplugging and you'll more than likely hose your OS install.

eugh yeah good point jim, i bought the drives knowing i could RAID with this board, but didn't realise what a pain it would be! i think i will just be careful with it:P

I know people have done it, but they don't seem to have documented it! i shall try with the standard one, and just see how it goes i guess.

Well just to let anyone know who is interested, what i have read about this bored on forums was absolute *******s. i plugged them both in on sata ports 2 and 5, Master ports ( couldn't get my fingers to port 1, damn gfx card!) and then said "use this as a raid drive" using the normal ICH9R chip, not the JMircron, and then installed vista ultimate x64 SP1 with no problems what so ever! didn't even need any other drivers!

Thanks for the help tho
